Palworld and Pocketpair support modding, and we're grateful to all our fans who have dedicated time into modding the game up now. We look forward to seeing all the amazing MODs that will be made after 1.0.
However, if you haven't played the game in a long time then it is possible you may have old and potentially harmful MOD data still on your PC.
The upcoming 1.0 update for Palworld makes significant changes to the game’s systems. If you still have MODs installed from the past, especially MODs that have been left installed since around 2024, you may encounter problems such as:
・Crashes when launching or playing the game
・Corrupted save data or save data failing to load
・Quests or events becoming impossible to progress
Please Note! Simply turning MODs “off” or “disabling” them is not enough.
MOD files and MOD loaders that remain in the game folder may still be loaded when the game starts, even if they have been disabled, and can cause issues. Please manually delete these files before updating. If you have ever installed MODs in the past, even if they are currently turned off, please make sure to delete the files.
Recommended steps before updating
(1) Back up your save data
(2) Manually delete old MOD files from the game folder. [Most Important!]
If any of the following files or folders remain, please delete them or move them to another location. Simply disabling them with a MOD management tool will not delete them.

(3) Verify the integrity of your game files on Steam
Steam Library → Right-click “Palworld” → “Properties” → “Installed Files” → “Verify integrity of game files”
(4) Confirm that the game launches correctly in an unmodded state before applying the update
If you are using Steam Workshop MODs, please also unsubscribe from all installed MODs in addition to following the steps above. However, unsubscribing alone will not remove the remaining files mentioned in step (2), so manual deletion is still required.
Important note about save data
Save data that contains content dependent on MODs, such as added items or Pals, may not function correctly after those MODs are removed, or may become impossible to load. Please make sure to back up any important data in advance.
Reinstalling MODs
We recommend only reinstalling MODs after confirming that the MOD creators have updated them for 1.0, and then testing them one by one. Please note that issues that occur while using MODs, or modified game data, are not covered by support.
