First of all, thank you all so much for the support and feedback since the game launched. These past few days have been very rewarding, but also very hectic, while fixing bugs and going through all your suggestions, so thank you as well for your patience and understanding. After all, I’m a solo developer releasing my first game (and doing it for free).
I especially want to thank everyone who took the time to replay the game to look for bugs, send reports, and leave kind comments and reviews. I’m really happy people are enjoying the game and helping me improve it <3
A new version of the game has now been uploaded and should be updated automatically in Steam. Make sure to check the version in the main menu of the game, it should say Version 1.1.
This update will also be uploaded to Itch soon, and I’ll announce it there once it’s available.
WARNING: This announcement contains spoilers of the game. I will try to add spoiler tags to the most revealing bits.
Changelog
Puzzle updates:
Yes, I have read your comments about the puzzles, and thus I have made some changes that I hope make the experience better for everyone in terms of accessibility, for both players that like challenges and ones that prefer a bit more of a calm experience.
- Hint “system”: Although a hint system for this game is out of scope and will not be added to the game, I have included a “Help” button in the pause menu, which has a link to the official guide. The guide will be updated soon with the new changes and an additional section for inventory items, as well as translated to Spanish.
- Folder puzzle: Approximately 100 folders have been removed from the game, making the maximum amount needed for the achievement 120 now. It’s still a challenge, but now also clues have been added inside some folders that point in the general direction of the objects hidden in the puzzle. These serve as a mid point reward for the puzzle. Additionally, a clue for another puzzle has been included inside a folder.
- Password puzzle: The fixes for this puzzle are minimal, some posters have been enlarged and brightened a bit (the alien) to make the symbols stand out, and all the fingers have been redrawn to hopefully make a bit clearer, without being too obvious.
- Drawer puzzle: An “easier mode” button has been added, which removes 2 small pieces from the game, making it significantly easier to solve the puzzle. You can change back to hard mode if you want, reseting the minigame. The “Big brain” achievement ONLY counts if you solve the puzzle in hard mode, and the description of the achievement has been changed accordingly.
- Shelves puzzle: As mentioned earlier, there is now a clue for this puzzle in the game, hidden in the folders.
Bug fixes:
- Achievements not loading in Steam: This was a bug present only during the first hours the game was out, it was fixed back then, but all users that had already played the game couldn’t reset their achievements in order to log them on Steam. So, a button has been added in the Achievements menu that lets you delete all your achievements and restart the game. Sadly, there is no way of logging already received achievements, so you will have to get them all again after clicking that button.
- Reload bugs: Many people reported being soft locked from the game after quitting and then loading their saves. The ones that have been fixed are the following:
- “Reloading after completing the drawer puzzle resets it and lets you grab the glue again”. Now, after completion and reloading, the puzzle should be locked.
- “Reloading the game after picking up the Old Lady Sock (under the bed) lets you pick it up an infinite amount of times”. Now, the things under the bed do reset their location, but you cannot get the sock again.
- “Reloading the game after unlocking the PC locks it back and prevents it from being interacted with”. Now that shouldn’t be happening.
“Drastic measures” achievement (hammer): The blue orb bug has been fixed, it wasn’t part of the achievement, so no need to try to break it. There is another bug regarding getting this achievement that I haven’t been able to replicate, but I have reduced the number of needed things to break from 11 to 10 for now, in case this fixes it. Please let me know if you had this issue before and if it persists or not.Windowed version: Some players reported not being able to play the game because of screen resolution. There is now both an options menu in the main menu (after clicking play) and in the pause menu. Both have the fullscreen / windowed checkbox. The window is not resizable, as this caused other issues.Various translation changes and fixes. If you play in Spanish and see anything in English please let me know, as it’s possible that some translated texts were accidentally reverted to default during this patch.Reported issues
These are some issues that I’m still working on or do not have enough information to replicate yet. If you run into them, please share the details / recording / save data with me so I can diagnose the cause!
- A player has reported collecting the sock in the trash can twice. I haven’t encountered this issue before. It may be a confusion because you may have to drag the sock away from the trash before clicking it again. If it’s not the case, then I need more details to fix this.
- A player has reported pieces mounting on top of each other in the drawer puzzle. I also haven’t encountered this issue.
- Multiple players have reported not being able to collect the knife. Given that it is located almost at the corner of the screen, my theory (without encountering the issue myself yet) is that this has to do with screen resolution, which has been fixed in this update via the windowed version. If you encounter it again, please let me know the details.
- Multiple players have reported an issue with the last achievement. I assume this is because of the hammer one, but if that's not the case let me know.
