Hey everyone!
Our demo is live for SteamNext fest! And with a small update to go along with it (see details below).
It's been really fun working on 10 Second Mixtape this year and we are thrilled the game has come to the point where we feel we can release very soon! After looking at our remaining work, we have decided on the following date.
Release date: November 12th 2026
That's right! The release is only 4 weeks away! With that in mind, we would like to answer a few questions about the full release.
Release FAQ
Will the game be free?
Yes! Just like our previous game "Different Strokes", the base version of "10 Second Mixtape" will be available for free on release.
The base version will have most of the features in the demo now allowing you to create endless mini music with people online.
In addition to the free version, there will also be a "Backstage pass" DLC for a very low price.
What will the "Backstage pass" DLC include?
Backstage pass will give users access to "pro mode" which gives you full control over track arrangement and song creation.
In addition, backstage pass holders will have access to 16 extra instruments
We want everyone to enjoy making music for free but if you would like to help support our 4 person team please consider checking this DLC out :)
What will be added in the release version of 10 Second Mixtape?
Instrument shop This is a new feature that will allow users to buy instruments from a vending machine using in-game currency you can earn daily from doing things in game (no real money is involved)
Pro mode (Backstage pass DLC owners only).
Tutorial We are working on some simple tutorials to help onboard new players and hopefully make the process of learning music a little easier.
Bug fixes I mean...you know the deal.
What will happen to the demo on release?
Because the base version of game will be free, we will remove demo when the full game releases
Will my account made in the demo work in the full release version?
Yes, everyone's demo account will seamlessly carry over to the release version.
All of your created songs and profile will remain fully intact regardless of if you have the DLC or not.
Will the game still receive updates?
We are still totally up for updating the game based on the player response!
We will be carefully checking steam and discord for ways to make the game more enjoyable even after release :)
Steam NextFest demo update!
So what's new in the demo for NextFest you ask? Well in a word, mastering. Check it.
Our "add tapes" screen has gotten a sexy face lift!
But other than just looking like a cozy little recording studio, now you can control a few things about each of your song's parts!
Instrument volume: Someone too loud? Drag them into the back to make that part sound softer. Do the opposite if you want them loud and proud up front.
Instrument panning: You can also move instruments left and right to control the left/right "panning" of the stereo sound.
That's all for now, as always looking forward to seeing what everyone makes!
