Hi everyone!

We have two exciting pieces of Folklands news to share today:

Folklands will officially leave Early Access and launch into 1.0 on September 9, 2026.

We have also released a new quality-of-life update today, featuring several interface improvements, new production statistics, bug fixes, and other refinements based on your feedback.

Our Road to 1.0

It has been a little while since our last devlog. We promise we have not been slacking. In fact, it has been quite the opposite.

Following the feedback we received from our previous milestone updates, we took some time to review the remaining Early Access roadmap and make sure it aligned with both the game we set out to create and the game our community has told us they enjoy playing.

After putting our heads together, we decided to combine the final two milestone updates into one larger 1.0 release.

This gives us the opportunity to deliver the remaining features together as a more complete, polished, and cohesive experience rather than separating them across two smaller releases.

Before we get into what is coming with 1.0, let’s take a look at what is available today.

Available Now: Quality-of-Life Update

Today’s update focuses on improving the information available to you while managing your settlement, making important systems easier to understand, and addressing issues reported by the community.

Redesigned Villager Happiness Panel

The villager happiness panel has been redesigned to provide a clearer overview of what your villagers need and what may be affecting their happiness.

Overhauled Building Overview

The building overview has received a complete overhaul. It now provides clearer information about the services each building requires, which services are currently covered, and other important details about its performance.

New Productivity Statistics

You can now view more detailed productivity statistics and track production on a building-by-building basis.

This should make it easier to identify bottlenecks, compare performance, and improve the efficiency of your settlement.

Improved Services Overlay

The services overlay has been overhauled with additional information and new statistics graphs, giving you a better understanding of how effectively services are reaching your villagers.

The update also includes a collection of bug fixes, interface refinements, and smaller improvements based on player feedback.

Coming September 9: Folklands 1.0

The full 1.0 update will introduce new ways to build, expand, compete, and play together.

Here is an overview of what we are currently working toward for September 9.

Multiplayer Gameplay Improvements

We have spent a lot of time expanding and polishing the multiplayer experience without sacrificing the single-player game.

Many of you have told us how much you enjoy building settlements together and competing with other players, so 1.0 will introduce several new multiplayer systems.

Global Multiplayer Market

Trading has been expanded with a global multiplayer market where players can exchange goods with one another.

This creates new opportunities to cooperate, specialize your settlements, or use trade to gain an advantage over your opponents.

Territory Competition

Players will be able to take control of territories using guard towers and guards, introducing a new competitive layer to map expansion.

Securing important land and resources will become increasingly valuable as each game progresses.

New Victory Conditions

Folklands 1.0 will include five different victory conditions for players to pursue.

An updated multiplayer leaderboard will help you track your progress and see how close your opponents are to achieving their own objectives.

Customizable Games

New game settings will give you greater control over how each session plays.

These options include:

  • Multiple difficulty settings

  • Optional raider camps

  • Custom time limits

  • Additional multiplayer rules

  • Updated map generation

Whether you want a relaxed cooperative settlement, a more competitive multiplayer session, or a greater survival challenge, you will have more ways to customize the experience.

Raider Camps

Raiders will now operate from camps located throughout the map.

These camps occupy valuable territory and can make expansion more dangerous. With enough guards, however, you can conquer them and claim the surrounding land for yourself.

Raider camps will be optional and can be enabled or disabled when setting up a game.

New Production Chains

The Townsfolk villager level introduces two new needs: Luxuries and Entertainment.

Meeting these needs will require five new production chains:

  • Wine

  • Cider

  • Oil

  • Meat

  • Jewelry

Each chain includes new resources and buildings that must be incorporated into your settlement to keep your growing population happy.

Together, these systems will add more depth to the later stages of each game and provide new challenges as your settlement develops.

More Reasons to Explore

Map generation has been adjusted to make expansion and competition for resources a more important part of the game.

You will need to explore new territories to locate the resources required by your settlement, secure enough room for future growth, and deal with raider camps occupying valuable land.

Expansion will no longer be quite as straightforward, especially when other players are competing for the same resources.

More Community-Requested Improvements

We have been gathering feedback throughout Early Access, and 1.0 will include additional improvements requested by the community.

These include features such as the ability to manually assign folks to different buildings and occupations, alongside further interface improvements, balancing changes, polish, and bug fixes.

We will share more details about these additions as we get closer to release.

Thank You for Supporting Folklands

Folklands has grown throughout Early Access, and your feedback has played an enormous role in shaping the game.

Thank you to everyone who has played, reported bugs, shared suggestions, and helped us improve the experience.

Folklands 1.0 launches on September 9, 2026.

Between now and release, we will be sharing more detailed looks at the new multiplayer systems, production chains, exploration changes, and other features coming in the full update.

In the meantime, please jump into today’s quality-of-life update and let us know what you think.

You can send feedback directly through the Send Feedback button in-game, post in the Steam Discussions, or join us on Discord.

We read everything, and we cannot wait to share Folklands 1.0 with you on September 9!

Until next time!
