Welcome to the newest edition of the bi-weekly dev update for Tyr. We have lots to share this time around, including the kick-off of our next extended playtest... which starts tomorrow.

As always, you can catch this update in video and written form.

We'll start with the playtest.

Tyr's two-week playtest begins tomorrow

How to join...

If you're not already a playtester for Tyr, you’ve got two ways in:

  1. Request access on Steam - It's random, but we admit players in growing waves during each playtest.

  2. Ask for an invite in our Discord - Our community has access to invites that provide instant playtest admission.

Reminder: we're not wiping accounts or progress earned during the playtest

This comes up a lot on our Discord, so we figured it's worth repeating.

We do not plan to wipe progress made during the playtest when we launch into EA. The tanks you unlock and the SLVR you earn during the playtest phase of Tyr will carry through and beyond Early Access launch.

We worked early to make this happen, and we've only had to wipe once as we moved from development to production servers. We're working to ensure we don't have to do it again.

We're readying the patch for later this month now

We're locking in the content and changes slated for the larger patch at the end of this month, and we'll dig into some of what's coming below.

Fortis will be the first tank to graduate from the Alpha Program later this month

Pop the virtual champagne, Fortis—the mine laying heavy—is the first tank graduating from Tyr's Alpha Program. That means it will be unlockable and playable for all players across Standard, Customs, and Ranked play.

Fortis will bring three unlockable components along with it, and we'll have more info on those in our next dev update.

If you're a member of the Alpha Program and have already dumped some time into Fortis, you'll find that the tank progression will be carried over into the tank once you unlock it again. So, yes, you'll need to earn the XP or SLVR necessary to get the tank, but your progression will carry over from the Alpha Program once you add the tank to your selectable roster.

Of course, graduation from the Alpha Program doesn't mean that we'll stop tuning and tweaking Fortis' specs and capabilities. We'll make updates to maintain balance in Tyr based on how Fortis fits with the rest of the roster and your feedback.

Want in on the Alpha Program? You'll need to unlock 10 tanks and join our Discord to provide feedback, and all of this can be done within Tyr itself.

Thanks for helping us bring Fortis to the full roster.

Laying the groundwork for Clans in Tyr

We'll have more to share in the next dev update, but we've been working on building the foundation for the clan system at play in Tyr. Here's a work-in-progress screen of what we're cooking up.

We'll talk much more about the starting block for Clans in Tyr soon, but as you can see, the system already features a member list, in-game Clan chat, and Clan-based Territory Scans earned via XP.

This is the start of the Clan system in Tyr; we look forward to your feedback once you have a chance to give it a shot.

The next Tyr tournament begins this weekend

Will THUMBS maintain their undefeated streak? Will a new challenger take the crown?

The next Tyr tournament begins this weekend, and we'll stream the championships on our Discord. There's a cash prize at stake, too.

  • 1st place: $1,300 USD

  • 2nd place: $700 USD

  • 3rd and 4th place: $250 USD each

Want to play in the next one? Head to our Discord, grab the Competitive role from the role bot (if you cannot find it, ask and we will help), then sign up for the tournament. Don't have a team yet? No problem, we also offer Free Agent teams and placements.

The next tournament is slated for July 18th, 2026.

We hosted our first dev stream and live Q&A

In case you missed it, we took to YouTube with a two-hour stream of Tyr last week and answered questions from chat along the way. We made sure to hold onto the VOD, and you can watch the stream in its entirety right here.

That's it for this dev update. We'll see you in the playtest. 🫡
