In the cultivation world of Heavenward, immortal bonds are never a decorative afterthought to your journey — they are a core gameplay pillar deeply woven into secret realm exploration, cultivation progression, and the game’s karma-driven narrative. Every fairy maiden you encounter comes with a fully realized backstory, sect allegiance, and destiny of her own. They are not mere collectible rewards to unlock, but fellow cultivators who can stand by your side through peril, or stand against you as foes. Every meeting, every choice you make, weaves threads of karma that shift secret realm fortunes, faction dynamics, and your own path to immortality — forging a cultivation journey entirely unique to you.
As a cultivation title focused on refined core gameplay, Heavenward makes all core immortal bond storylines and base bonding gameplay fully free for all players. No paywalls lock core content. Every cultivator who steps into the secret realms can write their own legend of love, power, and fate.
Unlike the simple affection-grinding mechanics found in most cultivation games, the Immortal Bond System in Heavenward is deeply integrated with sandbox secret realms, realm progression, and the moral narrative of good and evil. Each fairy maiden has her own full standalone storyline. Their fates branch into wildly different outcomes based on your choices, and the sects behind them will open doors of opportunity or bring down retribution depending on your relationship.
You may swear yourselves as Dao companions and brave the secret realms side by side, drawing on their heritage to break through cultivation bottlenecks. You may forge alliances of mutual benefit, leveraging their sect influence to shift the balance of power between the righteous and demonic paths. Or you may walk the darker path, seizing them as living cauldrons to fuel your own ascent to immortality. Whether you choose tender devotion, calculated alliance, or ruthless domination — the choice, and the consequences, are yours.
Title: Head Disciple of the Orchid Pavilion, Keeper of the Yaochi Sect’s Secret Tomes Sect: Yaochi Immortal Sect
Born into the direct lineage of the Yaochi Immortal Sect, Yaolan was trained from childhood in the sect’s most profound ice-aligned cultivation arts. Even at a young age, she earned fame throughout the sect for her mastery of the Jade Terrace Frost Sword technique. Possessing unparalleled beauty and a demeanor as cool and serene as a frost orchid beneath the moon, she dwells in the Orchid Pavilion managing the sect’s ancient scriptures and treasure archives. Rarely descending to the mortal world, she is seen by most in the sect as a distant, unattainable flower of the immortal realm.
When internal strife tears through the sect, the sect’s most sacred treasure — the Nine-Leaf Spirit Ganoderma — is stolen by traitors and taken into the mortal demon realms. Yaolan descends to the mortal world alone on her master’s order to recover it. Her hunt for the treasure leads her across dangerous secret realms and deep into the tangled conflicts between the righteous and demonic paths.
You will first meet her deep in the Spirit Valley Secret Realm. Cornered by hordes of demonic cultivators, her white robes stained with blood, she stands tall and unyielding, her ice sword sheathed in frost, refusing to yield even a single step. You may step in to help and forge a bond of goodwill, seize the moment to steal the clues to the secret scriptures she carries, or simply walk away and leave her to her fate. That first meeting in the secret realm will set the course for every turn of your immortal bond.
We have crafted fully branching story paths for Fairy Maiden Yaolan. Your faction alignment, cultivation strength, and personal playstyle will determine which paths open to you. Each route comes with its own unique story, rewards, and costs.
If you walk the righteous path, you may choose to stand beside her and track down the lost sacred treasure together. You will raid demonic secret realms, hunt down the traitors, and break ancient seals side by side. Through shared danger and unshakable trust, her frozen heart will slowly melt for you. You will discuss swordplay under the moonlit sky, cultivate together in your blessed cave, and when the treasure is finally recovered, you will return together to the Yaochi Immortal Sect, clear her name, and be formally bonded as Dao companions.
On this path, you are both soulmates and comrades in arms. Once bonded, you will unlock the exclusive combined immortal art Yao-Shuang Twin Swords. When exploring secret realms, her knowledge of ancient scriptures allows her to decipher hidden stone inscriptions, unlocking secret opportunities and hidden treasures. She is the perfect partner for your journey toward immortality.
If you walk the demonic path, you may instead take her captive when she is wounded and exhausted, bringing her back to your private cave estate. You may bind her with forbidden seals and use demonic extraction arts to turn her into a living cultivation cauldron, siphoning her innate pure-yin immortal essence and the profound cultivation of the Yaochi Sect to fuel your own realm breakthroughs. You may even lay siege to the entire Yaochi Immortal Sect, raze it to the ground, and keep her imprisoned at your side forever — making that distant immortal flower bloom for you and you alone.
This path comes with a price: you will become a sworn enemy of the entire righteous cultivation world, hunted down by immortal sects across the land. Her resentment will also greatly reduce the efficiency of her essence extraction, and may even trigger a backlash of her arts at critical moments. You may choose to slowly win her heart over time, turning imprisonment into devotion — or keep her forever as nothing more than a tool for your ascent. Whether it becomes fate or calamity is entirely your decision.
For cultivators of sufficient power and cunning, the harem gameplay opens up entirely. You may bring Yaolan and multiple other fairy maidens to reside in your cave estate, assigning each their own quarters, or putting them in charge of alchemy, archives, secret realm scouting, and other affairs.
Fairy maidens of different personalities and backgrounds living under one roof will trigger rich dynamic interactions: some may grow jealous and scheme against one another, some may become close friends and allies, and others may clash fiercely over conflicting loyalties. How you balance them will determine the harmony of your estate and the efficiency of your cultivation gains. Balance well, and all your beauties will work in unison, greatly accelerating your cultivation, aiding your secret realm explorations and sect management, and granting you the bliss of a full inner sanctuary. Balance poorly, and your estate will fall into strife and internal conflict, dragging down your cultivation progress.
Once your bond with Yaolan reaches a certain depth, you will unlock the exclusive Dual Cultivation gameplay. This is no superficial gimmick — it is a core cultivation method deeply integrated into the progression system, delivering both immersive storytelling and tangible gameplay benefits.
Shared Cultivation Arts: Dual cultivation with Yaolan grants insight into the Yaochi Immortal Sect’s exclusive Orchid Pavilion Dual Cultivation Canon, greatly increasing cultivation gain speed and significantly boosting your chances of overcoming major realm breakthrough bottlenecks. Each fairy maiden’s dual cultivation arts have different strengths, allowing you to match them to your own cultivation path.
Secret Realm Co-Exploration: When entering sandbox secret realms together, you will trigger exclusive two-player exploration events, unlocking hidden chests and secret realm encounters only accessible to bonded pairs. In combat, you may unleash combined immortal bond skills that drastically boost your crowd control and boss-breaking power — with greater rewards the higher the secret realm tier.
Cave Estate Daily Life: Within your private cave estate, you may discuss the Dao by the window, refine elixirs and craft artifacts together, play music for one another, or stand side by side watching the sea of clouds beneath the sunrise. Each interaction grants different cultivation bonuses and affection gains — no cold numerical grind, but a true recreation of the quiet intimacy of immortal lovers.
Legacy and Lineage: When your bond reaches its deepest level, you may also conceive an immortal child. Your offspring will inherit both your and Yaolan’s spiritual roots, talents, and cultivation traits. You may choose their cultivation path from childhood and raise them carefully. When they come of age, they will become core members of your sect, accompanying you in secret realm raids, managing your estates, and allowing your cultivation legacy to truly pass down through generations.
All core immortal bond gameplay, secret realm exploration, and cultivation progression will be fully free to experience.
Step into this vast world of secret realms and cultivation. Will you walk the path to immortality hand in hand with a fairy maiden, or use the beauty of the realm as stepping stones to the pinnacle of power? The story is yours to write.
