Let's get right to it, on September 25th, 2026 Gobutiko is going live with its first playable demo and this goblin can hardly hang on to their hat!
An indefinite sandbox preview - The story at this point is limited to your goblin learning the tools of the trade and earning their first merchant's license. After that you're free to run your shop for as long as you'd like with limited access to the roster/items/concept cores.
Unlock concept cores - There are around 10 concept cores that can be equipped to alter your dice in haggles. Most are available after you've acquired your merchant's license and meet a specific person.
Build/Decorate - There's 2 sets of items to build/decorate with. The Basic set and Tavern set along with a small pool of items available to decorate with.
Part-Time Jobs - Jade and Lucy each have their own jobs you can perform for some extra coin (plus whatever you can haggle into your pockets!).
SteamDeck optimized - Gobutiko is designed from the ground up with SteamDeck experience in mind! There is full controller support and performance is excellent on the device.
Cloud Saves - Why cloud save on a demo? Why not? I'm constantly swapping devices while playing even small games. This demo is no different!
Will my progress transfer to the full game?
Unfortunately, with where development is currently, I can't promise this will be the case. There's still a lot to do and I may need to make adjustments to this section of the game that would make that progress not possible. I will try though!
Mac support?
Maybe further down the line, but at the moment I lack the equipment to properly test on Mac devices. So this one is a no for now.
Will the demo be taken down at launch?
No! Demos can be difficult to maintain post launch and can sometimes reflect less of the launch experience than when they originally released. Even if this is the case, I prefer to let players still play them and judge for themselves.
Will the demo get updates?
Of course! I expect a need to make updates to it based on player sentiment and feedback (and to squish the squashy bugs!). Updates will roll out as needed!
Discord Server?
Not at this time. As much as I want to interact with you all, I just don't justify the time to maintain a server by myself and develop the game! This may change in the future and if it does, you'll definitely know!
Where to leave feedback?
Demo has its own store page! Feel free to toss it into a review there! If you have something more specific like bug reports or the like then please leave those in the community forum page!
I'm very excited for you all to get your hands on this and look forward to seeing the reception to this goober's misadventures as a merchant!
