Ship Controls & Responsiveness
One of the most common pieces of feedback has been that ships feel sluggish or like they aren’t moving at all. I have implemented two changes to help alleviate this:
Thruster Visuals: Your four thrusters now have basic visual effects so you can easily see which one is firing at any given moment. This should also help you visualize the differing power outputs across thrusters. I will continue to fine-tune these—if you see any aligned oddly on a ship, don't worry, I'm on it (though feel free to report it so I can fix it sooner).
Ship Speed & Agility: I have adjusted the acceleration and max speed of every ship and most engines in the game. Ships now get moving faster and reach higher top speeds. I haven't changed turn speeds, as maintaining that weight is an important part of making big ships feel properly massive.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this and will continue tweaking the flight model until it feels just right, so please keep the feedback coming!
Onboarding & General Info
Map Node Tooltips: Added hover text to all nodes on the sector map. They will now indicate whether a node is a shop, an event, or a combat encounter (including combat difficulty).
Tutorial Video Clips: Added looping videos to the mini-tutorial you encounter when first starting the game to better demonstrate core mechanics. If you've already completed it, you can reset it in Settings -> Gameplay -> Tutorial Tips to check them out.
Combat & UI
Damage Numbers: Added floating damage numbers showing a mix of individual shot damage and a running total for continuous barrages. You can toggle this setting under the Gameplay menu.
Experimental Super Weapons: Started experimenting with super weapons—specifically nuclear missiles and an AC-130 cannon. These aren't ready for standard runs yet, but you can try them out now in the test range!
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where certain weapons (or weapon components) were dealing no damage, specifically sub-munitions from MIRVs and Flak Cannons.
Game should now display correctly on wider monitors !
