Wolcen 2 is an isometric dark fantasy Action RPG where you’ll master brutal combat, build your character without fixed classes, combine skills and gear, and unleash your Shadow Form in singleplayer or up to four-player co-op modes.
No, Wolcen 2 is designed to be accessible to new players. Playing Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem will, however, provide additional context for the events that brought the world to the brink of destruction and offer a deeper understanding of its lore, as it is a direct sequel to Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.
Wolcen 2 is planned to enter Early Access on PC in 2027, with development focused on balance, performance, polish and player feedback. The full release is planned for PC and current generation consoles. After launch, we plan to continue expanding the game with additional story content, activities and optional cosmetics.
No. Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was built using an older version of CryEngine, whereas Wolcen 2 is a completely new project developed in Unreal Engine 5 and built upon the experience, knowledge, and production pipelines we've established over the years and through our work on Gods, Death & Reapers.
Using Unreal Engine 5 allows us to refine and optimize our development pipeline to deliver the visual quality players expect across a wide range of hardware configurations, including the latest generation of consoles.
In addition, the networking architecture has been completely redesigned. Wolcen 2 utilizes a listen-server peer-to-peer architecture, reducing reliance on dedicated servers and helping ensure the game's long-term accessibility. This approach allows players to continue enjoying the game with their friends for years to come.
Yes. Community-driven development is a core pillar of Wolcen 2 and playtests will play a major role in helping us gather feedback, test new content, and shape the game's future together with you. You can sign up for the Wolcen Studio Playtest program here.
We were committed to supporting Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem for the long term and improved the game through updates, new chapters, additional items, UI improvements and balanced gameplay. Over time, however, it became clear that the game's technical foundation was not designed to sustain a live service lifespan. Addressing those limitations would have required a complete rebuild.
We ultimately made the difficult decision to end active development and focus our efforts on building new projects on stronger technical foundations, while applying the lessons we learned from Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.
No. Active development on Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem has ended.
Yes! We're currently working on Gods, Death & Reapers, a free-to-play ExtrAction RPG set in an afterlife where mythology is real, and the gods are dead, offering three ways to play: PvPvE, PvE and Party System. The game is currently in its alpha state, and we're hosting regular playtests to gather your feedback. You can sign up for the next playtest here.
We also released the first title of our Indie Initiative back in 2025. Bullet Noir is a stylish, story-driven top-down shooter with one-hit-one-kill mechanics available on Steam.
We learned that communication, player feedback, and a reliable technical foundation need to be considered throughout development.
Our communication with the community fell short, causing a lack of trust and engagement. With Wolcen 2, we're focusing on community-driven development, building stronger connections, listening to feedback through regular playtests, and more open communication throughout development.
We also learned how important underlying technology is to the long-term health of a game. Wolcen 2 is therefore being developed in Unreal Engine 5, on a stronger and more established technical foundation, with extensive testing throughout development.
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was an unexpected commercial success, but that does not erase the problems players experienced.
The game made Wolcen Studio what it is today and gave us the opportunity to continue developing the game. We’re grateful for that, but we also want to be clear about the lessons we learned from its development and long-term support.
No. The teams working on Wolcen 2 and GDR are not the same team that originally developed Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.
Wolcen Studio has changed significantly over the years, although the experience and lessons gained from Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem continue to inform how we develop our games today.

The team is working towards delivering all the rewards that failed to be delivered. If you're still missing your rewards, please join our Discord and contact one of our Community Managers.
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem would not have been possible without its community. To thank players for their support and dedication, we're planning a set of in-game rewards for Wolcen 2. We'll reveal more details at a later stage of development.
Controller support will be available at later stages.
You will have the option to play offline in the future.
