Update 2.1.5 — Fourteen Complaints, Fourteen Answers

Two days before launch, the last big update. We went back through every criticism the game has received, put all fourteen on one page, and gave each one either a fix or a number.

Your choice stays on the screen

The most common complaint was also the worst one: you would make a decision and never see what it did. A queued command was firing in the same breath as your choice, so a pulse worth of notifications landed on top of the receipt and the view scrolled past it. Now the receipt stays put. A continuation line names what is waiting, and it plays only when you press Enter.

The tutorial tells you it is waiting

A guided lesson would sit on the same step forever if you never gave the command it wanted — in one run the same objective hung from step 23 all the way to step 1106. That is exactly the "I pressed end turn ten times and nothing happened" report. Now, every three unanswered pulses, an amber line tells you how long it has been waiting and points at the way out. A guided lesson never advances itself, and it never skips in silence.

The first hour has its own face

Two things happened to the art. A fitting bug was eating the borders off all 391 first-hour frames: it mistook the blank separator lines for the frame edges and cut the real ones, which is why some scenes looked like fragments. That is fixed. And roughly 381 scenes are now original hand-drawn art instead of borrowed faces from the general catalogue.

1,400 invisible characters, removed

A translation tool had left double zero-width spaces in 200 cells across 24 languages. You cannot see them, but the engine counted every one as a legal place to break a line — which is why Chinese panels and Danish sentences folded in the middle of a word for no visible reason. All gone; every other word is byte-for-byte unchanged. Chinese and Russian also got a full editorial pass across the intro, the first hour, receipts and diplomacy.

Steam Deck: bigger text, and a keyboard that stays shut

On a 1280×800 Deck the terminal was rendering at 8.2 pixels. It now opens at a scale that reads at about 11.5 pixels while keeping full-width tables intact. And the floating keyboard, which used to reopen every frame — over your dismissal, over everything — now opens only when you ask for it. Dismiss it and it stays dismissed.

Also fixed

  • Typing latency measured at 2.1 ms per keystroke at the 95th percentile, with no dropped or reordered keys
  • 0 and back never skip more than one level, and locked commands now state their condition out loud
  • Voice lines sit at one steady level under the music instead of jumping out at you
  • Six mutation cards and the weather log said "turn" where the flesh says Pulse
