Moshi moshi~! Let us borrow just a tiny little bit of your time to tell you what we’ll be working on over the next month ∠(°ゝ°)
First things first: we’re going to finish the demo and meet you all at the October Steam Next Fest!
The decision was made pretty quickly.
Then we took another look at the demo and realized…
There’s still…
SO. MUCH. STUFF. LEFT. TO DO!! w(゚Д゚)w
Do it all!! OVERTIME!!!
(A 360° spiraling, in-place scream powered by Magdeburg hemispheres, KFC theory, and absolutely zero blind spots.)
So, in order to meet you all as soon as possible, our main focus over the coming weeks will be polishing the presentation and overall experience.
We want to make sure all of the gameplay is in there, and that we’ve paid attention to every little corner and tiny detail, so we can hand you the best version of the game we possibly can.
After all this waiting, the moment is finally coming…
Nervousness +100866666
The game was originally scheduled to launch on October 28, but we’re currently expecting to move the release to early-to-mid December.
Once the exact date is confirmed, we’ll let you know right away.
But yes — we’re still aiming to release the game this year!
Sorry to keep you waiting a little longer.
As we mentioned in our previous developer log, there’s actually a fully playable pixel-art RPG hidden inside the game.
And recently, it finally crawled out of the planning documents and into development.
The artists started drawing.
The programmers started building.
And, naturally, to find the right feeling, we all went back and revisited the pixel games we played when we were kids:
Pokémon Golden Sun The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Final Fantasy…
And, just as naturally, the discussion turned into a full-blown “let’s list every game from our childhood” session.
What should the little pixel character look like?
Can we hide more things around the map?
How do we make battles actually fun?
Every time we talk about it, somehow the to-do list gets even longer.
We keep walking farther and farther down the road of “still in progress…”
But back to the game.
During the story, you’ll actually get to play the mysterious game that protagonist Shuichi Hirata encounters.
You’ll be able to control your character, explore the map, interact with people and objects in the environment, and even get into a few battles.
Pay close attention to those suspicious little details that flash by in the interactive movie.
Something that appears for only a moment might leave behind a clue in the pixel world.
And some seemingly ordinary conversations or items…
might actually be the key.
But there’s still one big question:
Is putting a pixel RPG inside an interactive movie actually worth it?
That’s something we’d really love to hear from you, dear players!
(~ ̄▽ ̄)~
We humbly accept all feedback, criticism, complaints, suggestions, existential crises, and everything in between.
Please feel free to tell us what you really think. (。﹏。)
So, the October Steam Next Fest will be the pixel RPG’s very first exam.
We’ll keep working hard and pushing forward.
For now, our first goal is simple:
Make sure the little pixel character stops getting stuck inside walls.
See you at the October Steam Next Fest!
