1WEEK 1.5 is not a regular update.

Over the last months, large parts of the game have been reworked to make 1WEEK faster to understand, smoother to play, and much more enjoyable from the very beginning.

The tutorial has been rebuilt, progression has been simplified, survival and crafting have been rebalanced, combat and enemies have been adjusted, the visuals have been improved, hundreds of localization lines have been reviewed, and a large number of old bugs have been fixed.

This is a great time to return and discover how much the experience has evolved.

Important: A new game is required

Version 1.5 requires starting a new game. Save files created with previous versions are not compatible with the reworked progression and systems introduced in this update.

A completely reworked beginning

The first part of 1WEEK has been heavily redesigned.

  • A new and much clearer tutorial.

  • The survival box now introduces the essential mechanics step by step.

  • The player gets into exploration and digging much faster.

  • Oxygen, plants, the map, and the main survival objectives are explained more clearly.

  • Loading screen tips now reinforce important mechanics without interrupting gameplay.

  • Old tutorial steps and unnecessary early-game friction have been removed.

One tool. Less friction. More exploration.

The old tool system has been greatly simplified.

The pickaxe is now your primary tool for exploration, with a clear progression:

Wood → Copper → Iron → Ruby

You no longer need to constantly switch tools just to move through the world.

And if you ever lose your pickaxe, you can now dig through dirt with your bare hands as an emergency measure, preventing progression softlocks.

A major visual pass

1WEEK has received a broad visual overhaul.

  • Improved lighting and contrast.

  • Many sprites have been redesigned or improved.

  • Character visuals have been updated.

  • Items and resources are easier to read.

  • Plants and survival equipment have received visual improvements.

  • UI readability has been improved throughout the game.

  • Several visual inconsistencies and equipment rendering bugs have been fixed.

Survival has been rebalanced

1WEEK should challenge you without constantly suffocating you.

  • Plant management has been simplified.

  • Oxygen progression is easier to understand.

  • The Emergency Oxygen Generator keeps an oxygen plant alive for 7 days and now clearly explains how to transplant it.

  • Food, healing, and resource availability have been reviewed.

  • A new advanced bandage has been added.

  • Enemy damage and several survival values have been adjusted.

  • Resource drops and crafting costs have received a large rebalance.

Crafting and building overhaul

  • A large number of recipes have been reworked to reduce unnecessary grinding.

  • Tools, arrows, storage, building pieces, oxygen equipment, healing items, furnaces, and workbenches now have revised costs and progression.

  • Several construction objects and previously problematic blocks have also been fixed and tested again.

Combat and enemies

Combat has received another balancing pass.

  • Arrow damage has been rebalanced.

  • Enemy damage has been adjusted.

  • Enemy spawning has been revised.

  • Lava biome creatures now spawn correctly.

  • Several zombie behaviors have been fixed.

  • Death and Continue Game behavior have been improved.

  • Enemies are handled correctly when the player dies.

UI and quality of life

  • Improved inventory readability.

  • Better item descriptions and interactions.

  • Improved pause menu behavior.

  • Better opening and closing behavior for interfaces.

  • Improved letters and scrolling.

  • Better map guidance.

  • Improved save/load recovery.

  • Numerous UI alignment and text issues fixed.

  • Several equipment and interaction bugs fixed.

Localization overhaul

The localization files received one of their largest reviews yet.

  • 1WEEK now contains reviewed localization for: English • Spanish • Korean • Portuguese • Russian

  • Hundreds of localization entries were checked and corrected, including object names, descriptions, tutorials, letters, and survival instructions.

  • Several texts were also rewritten to fit the UI properly in languages such as Russian and Korean.

Bug fixes

The full list of fixes is extensive, but some of the most important ones include:

  • Progression softlocks when losing the pickaxe.

  • Furnace processing the wrong mineral type.

  • Incorrect equipment transforms.

  • Equipment appearing incorrectly under 2D lighting.

  • Zombie movement and jumping issues.

  • Lava enemy spawning.

  • Death and Continue Game problems.

  • Block damage visualization.

  • UI null references.

  • Construction object issues.

  • Candle issues.

  • Several inventory and interaction problems.

  • Audio synchronization issues with environmental effects.

  • Numerous smaller fixes throughout the game.

Security update

  • Updated the Unity runtime with the latest security fixes available for the version used to build 1WEEK 1.5.

Version 1.5 changes much more than a few numbers or recipes. The early game, progression, survival systems, presentation, and overall pacing have all been revisited, with a strong focus on improving the player's quality of life throughout the experience.

Thank you to everyone who played, reported problems, and gave the game a chance over the years.

Welcome back to 1WEEK.
