HELLO PIZZA PEOPLE! π Welcome to our first Dungeon Pizza news update here on Steam. We are excited to start sharing our dev updates for the pizzeria, and to celebrate, I'll be dropping subtle hints at the newest minigame we've just implemented. Let us know if you figure it out.
As a team, we will probably all have a go at writing one of these posts, but for now I will be starting so HEYYYY! π My name is Elly and I am one of three artists on our little team of five!
I do mostly backgrounds and characters. I also love using emojis so be prepared. π
I thought as a first post I would give a general update to how 2026 has been for us so far. Turns out Dungeon Pizza has done a lot and I realised this when I started typing.
January was a lot of admin for the pizza team, what better way to start the year than with some delicious paperwork. π§»β¨
The start of February was an exciting time because for the first time, the team was expanding! We welcomed our new programmer, Reece, into the kitchen on the 16th which was very epic. He started cooking straight away and I must say, our lil pizza shop has never been cooking this fast. It's really a CUT above! πͺ
In March, myself and our wonderful pizza producer Louis traveled across the realm (to Melbourne) for TGX. It's a convention named The Game Expo and, boy, were there a lot of games. We showcased a brand new showfloor build of Dungeon Pizza and got to meet so many lovely people, heaps of which have become fast friends on our socials! π A lot of very weird & whacky pizzas were made. We also were able to test our latest game-changing features include a Day & Night (what what) cycle and an attic for Boss to sleep in.Β This stuff totally changed the feel and pacing of the game. It's really coming together.
It brought us a lot of joy to meet so many like-minded pizza people and we were extremely surprised to learn people had been voting for us as their favourite game of the show???
Dungeon Pizza won the People's Choice award for Best Indie Game! ππ
We made some great memories and took home a golden trophy (and immediately broke it) π«π
In April we cooked and in May we served a delicious new kitchen, a new dialogue system, a sharp new minigame and finally added some title/ending screens.
We now officially have credits - yippee!
Louis and I traveled the realm once again! But this time a much longer journey. We magically flew all the way to Japan to attend BitSummit! Which was freaking awesome!
It was definitely the biggest games event we'd ever been to. We saw and said hello to so many indie games and developers. Honestly, the whole event felt directed towards supporting small teams which was so lovely to be a part of. We shared some pizza slices and chatted to some sick industry people before magically heading back home. I think after the event, we both felt inspired and very keen to keep cooking. π π§ πΏ
There's still some things I haven't covered but that might have to wait until the next Dungeon Pizza news. (It's almost LUNCH time guys I gotta eat.) π₯ͺ
I do want to say, we've had some pretty big weeks recently as a team and the support we've gotten from you guys honestly means the world to us. Whether you've made a pizza or just follow the game, we appreciate it all so much.
We have some more exciting news to share very soon so keep an eye out. ποΈπποΈ
Our socials can all be found here!
It was nice to meet you guys, see ya in the next one.
