The big news is single-player. You can now play Piworld in a world of your own, alone or with your Steam friends. We also rebuilt the main menu, swapped the minimap for a compass and an atlas, and taught the traders to buy. The server build changed, so update the game to join the servers.
Single-player
Press Play and the camera drifts down to the night sea. The island with the campfire on the left is single-player. The islands on the right are the online servers.
- A world of your own. Open My worlds and press New world. Give it a name, pick PvE or PvP and, if you like, your own seed. Same seed, same islands. The world is saved on your PC, and server wipes never touch it.
- The same Piworld. Biomes, bosses, events and traders with tasks are all there. Death still drops all your loot, just like on the servers.
- Steam friends. Press Invite and your friend gets an invitation. Or give them the world code, and they enter it under “I have a code”. Up to 8 people can play in one world.
- You decide who joins. Any Steam friend, or only the people you invited and those with the code. A new code locks out the old one. You can change the mode and access in the world settings.
- Admin powers. Turn them on in the world card, and F8 opens items, flight, time and bosses. Only the world's owner gets them.
- Nothing rots. In your own world walls do not rot and totems do not die, even if you stay away for a long time.
- Good to know. The world is open while its owner plays. Own worlds are on Steam for PC only. Coins and items from your world stay in it and do not carry over to the servers, and Steam achievements come only on the servers.
New
- New main menu. A camp by the fire where every object is a button: play, character, shop, news, friends and settings. A hint shows new players where the tutorial is.
- Server list. Region, mode, players and ping. Star your favourite servers and see which server your friends are on.
- Compass and atlas. The minimap is now a brass compass with three sizes, zoom and layers. The big map is now an atlas with layers and marks. A mark has a name, a stamp and a colour, and an arrow on the screen leads to it. Marks are saved now.
- Traders at a market stall. Talk, tasks, buying and selling, all in one window. Town traders now buy raw goods: up to 8 kinds each, for at most 60 coins per player per day.
- 24 new tasks. There are 46 now, in 4 tiers. After 3, 8 and 15 turned-in tasks, a trader offers harder tasks with better rewards. Your current task shows in a card and on the map, and you can cancel it.
- Pick your lighting. Pixel, with stepped retro light, or Smooth, with soft light and no steps. The game asks once, and you can change it in the settings.
Changes
- Totems: a totem lives 48 hours without use again (was 24), then dies over 24 hours.
- Walls and doors outside every totem zone rot away in 24 hours (was 12).
- Reputation: you can now gain up to 200 a day (was 20).
- Tutorial: the furnace and campfire steps wait until you put in everything needed and take the result. A hint shows how to open the Blueprint Book, and a plan on the ground shows where the house walls go.
- Every world remembers where its camps and buildings stand, so future updates will not shuffle them.
- Servers: 100 players load the server much less, the autosave makes the game stutter less, and a world holds at most 120 hostile monsters at once.
Fixes
- The Dwarf vein no longer sinks a minute after the event starts.
- Viking raid: you can no longer skip a wave by stepping away from the shore. You win only when every viking is down.
- The Shore treasure no longer vanishes too early, and an empty chest goes away after a minute.
- The Starfall drops every rock it promised, even in a thick forest.
- A turret's shove no longer pushes bodies through walls.
- You can break a raft tile next to a campfire again.
- The coin counter no longer shows the last world's balance, and the HUD comes back at once after a pause menu opened over a conversation.
