When the black cloud clears the mountains and its shadow falls across the valley, the fieldwork stops. Livestock are driven into barns. Shutters are barred, doors braced, and children counted down into cellars.
Things breed in the cloud's depths. They drop through the rain onto roofs and pasture, tearing at thatch, timber and anything warm enough to struggle. By morning, a byre may stand open to the sky. A tether hangs from its post. Families search the wreckage and call names.
Survivors sometimes speak of larger shapes, glimpsed high within the cloud when the lightning catches them. In villages that have weathered it before, the oldest eyes watch long after it has passed. They have seen the cloud turn against the wind, as if the storm itself had a will.
This patch also brings another Cloud: Steam Cloud saves, so a campaign tagged since the mid-August save update can follow you from one PC to another.
The Umbral Cloud: It will gather and materialize on your map from time to time. Walk into its shadow and the fight opens with thunder. As you hunt it, the storm grows — lesser packs, then greater storms, then a storm aspect, then the entity in The Eye itself.
Roamers: Overland things that move across the map. The Cloud is only the first. Others will come in future updates.
The Fetchwind Ney: Loot this from the Wind Duke, and the instrument will summon a whirlwind that carries you back to your Campsite, wherever it sits in the world.
Steam Cloud saves: Campaigns started since the mid-August save update can sync through Steam. Play, quit, wait for Steam to finish, then continue on another PC. Campaigns that still use the old numbered save slots stay on the machine they were played on.
