The Day 31 demo is free on Steam right now, and four days of people playing it
found more than a year of me testing it myself did.
Thanks to everyone who has played and reported, and to st3ve in particular for
jumping out a window I did not know was open.
- Map holes. Windows and openings in unfinished areas have collision now.
- Fall catcher. Leaving the level puts you back on your feet instead of ending
the run.
- Sealed doors. Rooms that are not finished yet are locked. They cost nerve to
open and there was nothing behind them, and spending your hardest-earned
resource on an empty room is worse than not having the room at all. They stay
shut until they are worth walking into.
- Player 2 prompts in couch co-op now show the correct inputs. Not active in Demo.
- Gore pass. Headshot kills now hang standing for a beat before they drop, throw a dark rising blood cloud, and the muzzle flash is a real light that briefly lights the room and whatever's in front of you.
- sNure dread. The dread now follows what she's actually doing: a low hum while she's lurking, climbing when she's on your trail, peaking when she has eyes on you, spiking when she screams, and bleeding out completely when she's down or has broken off. She's no longer maxed out the whole time.
The demo ends after the flooded junction. Floor 2 is not built yet. Some later
infection effects are visual rather than mechanical, and survivor voice lines
are not recorded.
If something breaks, post it in the discussions. That is the whole reason this
is public before launch.
