Hey everyone! 👋
This week we didn't add a massive new feature — but we made a lot of things feel better. Here's what changed.
Boxes in OrbitFix can be physically tossed around — you can pick them up, throw them, and they'll tumble with real physics. The problem? Sometimes they'd land upside down, making it impossible to open them properly.
We've fixed this. Now when you interact with a box to open it, the box automatically snaps upright with a smooth rotation before the lid opens. No more crouching trying to reach inside an upside-down crate.
The old system had right-click as a throw. Simple, but not very satisfying.
New system:
Tap right-click → Drop the item (gentle, controlled)
Hold right-click → Charge up a throw — the longer you hold, the further it flies. Release to launch.
It makes throwing feel physical and intentional. Want to lob a fuel barrel across the bay? Hold it. Just want to set something down? Tap it.
During an attack, you now have real-time information on screen at all times:
Shield Health bar updates live as meteors hit your station
Remaining Threats counter shows how many enemies are left in the current wave — updated the moment each one is destroyed
The threat counter works across attack types, so the display is always accurate regardless of what's incoming.
If you sat down in the turret chair and pressed Escape while the screen was fading to black, the game would lock up completely. A second press of Escape would unfreeze it, but it was jarring and unprofessional.
This has been resolved. The input state is now properly handled during screen transitions so no freeze can occur.
Previously, any consumables left inside the Supply Unit when a ship departed would just disappear. That's fixed now — if a ship leaves while items are still loaded in the Supply Unit, those items are dropped back into the bay so nothing is wasted.
Not all repair bays are available from the start. Each bay has a minimum character level requirement — you'll need to reach that level before you can purchase and open it.
This gives progression a clear sense of direction: start small, earn experience, expand your operation as you level up.
Here's what we're working on for upcoming updates:
Ship attacks — enemy ships will warp in, fly toward your station and open fire. Your turret is the only thing standing between them and your shield.
Extinguish & Navigation tasks — two new task types coming to the repair bay
Hammer charge & fire extinguisher refill — Replace and Extinguish tasks will require charged tools, adding a new layer of resource management
Hammer & extinguisher upgrade system — improve your tools alongside your station
If you haven't wishlisted OrbitFix yet — it really helps us reach more players. Thanks for following along! 🙏
