A controller now plays the whole game

Before this update a gamepad could walk and use four abilities. That was the entire extent of it — no right stick, no jump, no interact, no menus. That is fixed.

  • Left stick moves, right stick looks, R3 glances behind you
  • A jumps, X interacts and revives, Y readies up
  • RT / RB / LT / LB are Abilities 1 through 4
  • View opens the scoreboard, Menu pauses
  • B backs out of anything — menus, settings, both radials

Menus, the build radial and the hero radial all navigate on a pad. You can start a run, build, fight, revive, pick a boon and finish a Trial without touching the keyboard.

Every prompt shows your actual key

"Hold X to revive" now reads whatever you have bound, with the right glyph, and it swaps within a quarter of a second when you pick up a controller or set it down. There is also a new Controls tab in Settings listing every binding for the hero you are playing.

All three Trials have been rebuilt

Solenne, Ashfold and Choir have each been rebuilt and re-lit, and they are deliberately three different places now.

Solenne — blue hour. A low sun rakes across the floor, the sky is cold, and the edge of the fight is marked in light.

Ashfold — flat overcast daylight over a ruin. Perimeter wall, pit face, tier riser and rubble, with ash in the air.

Choir — rebuilt from nothing. A colonnade towers over a gallery you cannot reach, lined with watchers, lit by torchlight.

Your hero now carries their own key and rim light, so armour reads as armour in all three instead of dropping to a silhouette.

The Trials scale to your squad

Enemy counts now scale to how many of you are connected. Solo, Solenne's first wave is eight minions instead of twenty.

Enemies also arrive spread across the wave instead of landing all at once — and scaling changes how dense a wave is, never how long it lasts. Eight enemies across the same six seconds, not eight enemies in a second and a half.

If you have been playing solo or as a pair and finding the difficulty unreadable, that was why. It is now tuned for the group that actually showed up.

Build sockets know what they are

A socket is a turret socket or a cover socket now, never both, and the pad on the floor tells you which. A cover pad is a rectangle matching the panel's real footprint, so it shows you which way the cover will face before you build it.

Socket turrets also work properly. They were aiming the wrong way entirely if the socket had been placed rotated, tilting up over enemies standing directly in front of them, dropping their shots short, and in some cases grinding out a rotation noise permanently from the moment they were built. All fixed.

The Reaper

A howl now brings eight, spaced evenly in a ring, rotated differently every time. It used to bring two, and they spawned on top of each other and half-sunk into the floor.

Bring friends.

Feel

  • Hold to attack on both heroes. Neither of them repeat-fired before.
  • Two new Choir boons — Ecstatic Cadence and Zealot's Quickening. Both raise attack speed, a new stat that speeds up the swing itself, not just the cooldown.
  • Enemies launched by Sunder ragdoll immediately instead of sinking through the floor. They also scream on the way.
  • Anything that falls out of the arena comes back.
  • The camera no longer snaps inside your character when an enemy walks behind you.

Fixes

  • You now go down the moment you hit zero health, instead of one hit later.
  • Reviving stops if the reviver goes down. The revive prompt no longer hangs over a teammate who is already back up.
  • Escape is a proper pause toggle — it opens and it closes.
  • Fixed a build menu that could open from anywhere on the map, and sockets that could stop responding for the rest of a run.
  • The build radial no longer draws underneath other menus.
  • Fixed a networking fault that could disconnect a player mid-revive.

NEW A full run now takes you through three trials instead of one. Two new arenas, Solenne and Ashfold, join the existing one, each with its own wave rotation. Gold has a purpo…
