The big two this time: hits that finally tell you what they landed on, and a solid framerate pass. Plus a couple of fixes you asked for.

Saves from 0.20.1 still load.

New

  • Hits look and sound different depending on what they land on. A round striking sand, a cruiser's armor plating, or a swarm body now has its own effect and its own sound. Until now every hit looked and sounded like it landed in the sand.

Performance

  • The game runs noticeably smoother. Several constant costs are gone without changing how anything looks. The chain rigs on distant drives are merged instead of drawn one by one. Interior fittings, lights and track links no longer cast their own shadows, and loose floor stacks don't either. The climate simulation stops running while you're parked, and the main-menu cruiser got the same merge treatment.
  • You can now switch off crew shadows for a few extra frames, under the graphics options.

Fixed

  • The camera no longer crawls across the map to your cruiser after you load a save. It's just there.
  • Storage trend arrows no longer sit blank when a cruiser has no storage. You get a dimmed dash and a tooltip that says why, instead of an empty gap that looked broken.

Known issues

  • Everything listed under 0.20.1 still applies.

Playing the update? Tell us how it runs. Especially: did the framerate improve on your machine, and what GPU/CPU are you on?

Highlights: nine languages, a job board, full control over repairs, flares for the night, and a proper graphics menu. ⚠ Saves from 0.16.0 still load — no format change. Two things affect running saves retroactively: modules now take different amounts of punishment based on their mass, and the big generators (turbine, tw…Community2 Sep 2026Welcome, testers — Start HereThank you for testing SAND CRUISER! This is an early alpha — expect bugs, rough edges and placeholder bits. There's no tutorial yet (the in-game Wiki is still incomplete), so start here. First steps · Click Paint Storage Zone . · Drag out a zone somewhere on your cruiser. · A storage zone should appear and the machinery should start working. Once placed, the game fills it with a starting batch…In-game event1 Sep 2026Update 0.16.0 — New Desert, Shipyard & Mortal CrewHighlights: the new desert , the shipyard and the floor cutaway . The world is freshly generated (wadis, planted oases, steppe belts), the hull is built in the shipyard, cut parts look solid — and the game gains real survival stakes: the world's edge is deadly, your crew can die, and losing the cruiser ends the run. ⚠ Saves from 0.10.0 still load — but check three things after loading: · Positi…
