This update makes Chess Town Demo’s card-based chess matches clearer, smoother, and more consistent.
Clearer Cards
Added category badges to every card: Attack, Defense, Tactic, Positional, Opening, and Endgame.
Added play-order badges: Start, Continue, Finish, and Flexible.
Rewrote card descriptions to be shorter and make each card’s role easier to understand.
Improved card and badge tooltips to explain categories, order, combos, counters, and card effects.
NPC card threats and suitable responses are now easier to identify.
Added explanatory tooltips for Tempo, Advantage, Timing, and Combo values.
All new card UI and tooltip content is localized across 10 supported languages.
Combos & Decision Making
Cards are now played by dragging them into the center instead of selecting them.
Play cards in any order while you have enough Focus, then end your turn whenever you choose.
Combo and counter relationships are clearer through badges, hover feedback, and tooltips.
The Dream Line now represents the board result of your selected card plan more consistently.
Card clashes, visual effects, and sound feedback have been improved.
Match Flow & Balance
Matches still begin from the standard chess position, but now progress faster and are easier to follow.
NPC decision quality and card effects have been rebalanced around the ELO difference between player and opponent.
Strong opponents remain challenging, while good card plans now give players a more meaningful chance to fight back.
Draw, resignation, and endgame rules have been updated for more consistent match outcomes.
Added a pre-match screen showing both players’ ELO and an estimated win chance.
Tutorial matches no longer consume in-game time.
When it is too late to start a match, the game now shows an information message without opening the match screen.
Tutorial & Interface
The first card-match tutorial has been fully updated for the drag-to-play and end-turn system.
It now teaches card badges, responding to NPC threats, combo order, and how to inspect card details.
Deck-building category filters now use the new card icons.
Added Steam and Discord links to the main menu.
