1.0.0 is live

No request-access queue, no waitlist, no key to wait for. Checkpoint64 1.0 is out, it's free to download, and your saves can start keeping a history today.

What it does

Checkpoint64 backs up your game saves while you play and keeps every version. So a corrupted world at 2am is something you roll back, not something you mourn.

  • Auto-backup while you play. Point it at a game once. It notices when the save changes and files a new version on its own.

  • Every version, not just the latest. That's the difference between a backup and a sync. Restoring takes one click, and the version you restore from stays in your history; rolling back doesn't cost you where you were.

  • 80+ games and 7 emulators know their own save paths. PCSX2, Dolphin, RetroArch, DuckStation, PPSSPP, RPCS3 and Cemu are in the box. Anything else, point it at the folder yourself. It only ever touches save files; never games, never ROMs.

  • It finds what you already own. Open Add Game and it scans your installed Steam library, then offers what it recognises. Playtesters asked for this one a lot.

  • Shared saves for co-op. Put a world in a team library and whoever sits down next gets the current save. An ownership lock stops two people overwriting each other's evening.

  • Achievements. Your backup habit may as well show up on your profile.

What it costs

Free to download, and the free plan is a real one, not a trial with a timer. Download and start protecting saves today. Want more room, or space for more co-op teams? There are two one-time unlocks. Pay once and they're yours for good. No subscriptions here, ever. Or connect your google drive for personal backups with no Checkpoint64 limits imposed! (And link your discord for double the free limit!)

Thank you, playtesters

You handed us modded Minecraft instances, emulator memory cards, and a Valheim seed two people had been passing back and forth in Discord for a year. You broke things we'd never have thought to try. 1.0 is measurably better for it.

Platforms, straight

On Steam, 1.0 is the Windows build. Linux users can grab a .deb or .rpm free from checkpoint64.com. There's no Mac build yet; it's on hold rather than shipping half-done, and we'd rather say so here than let you find out after you install.

What's next

Per-file restore and a "what changed" view before you commit to one. Installed-library scanning beyond Steam. More presets, every time someone shows us a save we don't know yet.

Tell us what's missing. the community hub is right here, and we read all of it. See you on the next checkpoint.
