Hello everyball and everycabbage!

We’re back from Gamescom and here to talk all the things we saw! Also news for the upcoming update for Alabaster Dawn aaand… more CrossCode Merch!

Progress and our plans for the 0.2.0 release

Back in July we already mentioned that we wouldn’t quite make our initial goal of August, delaying the release to early September.

Now September is here! How are things going?

The good news is: we mostly finished the second dungeon: The Trial of Cryo! This includes all maps, puzzles and encounters!

Here some impressions:

And all things considered things went pretty fast - especially compared to our first dungeon.

However, there is one important part missing: the boss fights. We’ve planned something big and as usual… things took longer than expected. Wrapping everything up will still take us a couple of weeks at least.

In addition some content for the swamp is still in development and since we want to avoid placing signs for unfinished content this time around, we want to take a bit more time to finish all these things for real.

Given all that, a release in September might be possible. However there’s a another issue: ever since the launch in May, many of us have been working tirelessly without breaks trying to meet the deadlines. And Gamescom, while fun, is still very exhausting. Because of that we’d like to add a little more time so we have the chance to recover before the next release.

For that reason, we’d now target late September to October for the release of version 0.2.0.

We’re sorry for yet another delay, but this way we can make sure to hopefully deliver a good result without burning ourselves out.

We’re also looking into options to better split the workload among our team members to hopefully get faster at developing content in the future.

Gamescom Impressions

We’ve been at Gamescom and it was awesome! Also exhausting, but it was all worth it. We met a lot of friends, cool indie devs and so many people who enjoy our work! And on top of all that: Cosplayers!

Alabaster Dawn cosplay, now featuring Filia, Juno AND Somu all by the incredible Maddy and friends!

We also played a lot of other cool games!
Here a short list of recommendations:

A promising JRPG with an impressive 3D pixelart look, positively reminicent of games like Xenogears!

A co-op metroidvania with neat hand-drawn graphics.

A cozy mining game that revolves around a digging mechanic some of you may be familiar with if you played Pokémon Diamond/Pearl or the DS game Spectrobes.

A pixel-art RPG that reminded us of the cult-classic Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, with puzzle-platforming exploration and combat that mixes tactical positioning with fighting-game like combos.

That’s all for today.

Until next time!
