Hello everyone, as I am working on taking Arcadian Days from Alpha into Beta, I wanted to share a few new clips to show how the gameplay is improving! The update will be titled Arcadian Days : New Summer!
The new update will focus more on making exploration and quests as satisfying as possible without being too frustrating. As non-handholding and open-exploration are the main design pillar of Arcadian Days, it is important to find a suitable balance!
The new demo is almost finished so you can get a taste of where Arcadian Days is heading , and should be ready for this week coming!
The open world has no on screen maps, guides or markers
- Open air spaces with clear man-made and natural landmarks to orient you
- Dynamic events like animals and sounds to get your attention
- Light can point you towards interesting things!
- no traditional quest log or on-screen guides
- requires paying attention to dialogue and environment
- items descriptions guide you
- Gameplay is story and exploration driven! Heavily inspired by souls-like!
I am happy that I have been able to now run Arcadian Days at up to 120fps on the highest settings on 2k resolution with no DLSS! I am making the game on a laptop with 4080RTX card and 16GB of RAM, but I want to make it run as smoothly as possible on many computers without sacrificing the visual style. As development progresses, I hope to add even more graphic settings so everyone can find the perfect way to play.
I read every review and forum post to fix bugs as soon as possible, and the new update should be a significantly smoother experience ,however I am still a solo dev so some bugs might escape me! Please do point them out to me :)
I look forward to sharing more!
