MG42 Progress Update

Here are some new screenshots of the MG42, now fully textured and getting ready for Pointe du Hoc.

The MG42 will be a two-man-operated weapon, with one player handling the gun while the second helps keep it running under sustained fire.

We are also working on the details that make the weapon feel alive. The current asset includes:

  • Two bipod mounting positions, using either the front or middle socket

  • Texture variants for the barrel cleaning phase

  • Barrel overheating

  • Heat tinting after sustained fire

  • Barrel replacement when overheating becomes too severe

And yes... if you keep firing long enough, the barrel will overheat and you will need to change it.

This is one of the first steps toward making crew-operated weapons a proper part of the combat experience in Brass Rain.
