The demo is live

You can play Stellar Nursery right now, free, on this page.

The demo runs from a dead solar system through the first Reignite, which is somewhere around two hours depending on how much you poke at things. Everything past that point is in the full game, and the demo will show you where it stops rather than pretending it was never there.

What it is: the sun went out a long time ago and the worlds emptied. You relight the star, then go world by world, seeding life onto dead rock and waiting to see if it takes. It runs in real time, so it keeps going while you are away. The AI who runs the station with you was a person before she was an AI, and she remembers it.

There is also a harmonograph, a prime spiral, and a double pendulum in there, none of which you need to finish the game. She built those.

Stellar Nursery is in Steam Next Fest this October and launches in November.

Thanks for wishlisting. Genuinely.

Most of it came from watching people play the last build. Mac players: please try again If you played the demo on a Mac through Steam this past week, it ran at about 20 frames per second, and that was our bug, not your machine. The Steam overlay helper we ship for Windows was also running on Mac, where the overlay has never worked, and it was costing more th…In-game event1 Sep 2026Demo v0.2: a new opening, worlds lit by their star, and a Windows fixFirst demo update since August 20, and it is a big one. Here is everything that changed. The opening · The game now opens on a Portia Plays studio card, then the title emerges out of black over a living star field. Any click or key skips ahead. · First-time players skip the card and go straight into PORTIA's boot sequence. · Boot lines animate in properly, and skipping the boot fades instead of…
