The biggest Fossil Bound update yet is live

Today’s update rebuilds the heart of Fossil Bound: follow a clear lead through town, review your expedition, complete a full pickaxe–chisel–brush excavation, protect your first museum specimen, install it piece by piece, collect daily revenue, and purchase your first meaningful upgrade.

A clearer, more satisfying excavation loop

  • Fixed the excavation dead-end that could stop mining after revealing the fragile-fossil marker.
  • Pickaxe and chisel targeting now finds the nearest reachable valid cell.
  • Fragile amber warnings appear only when they matter during chiselling.
  • A subtle ivory target and proximity feedback make the next valid action clear.
  • Brush work now finishes through five clean fossil glints without oversized or stuck interaction tiles.
  • Added a compact three-stage excavation progress bar.
  • The teaching dig is short and focused; later sites retain their full size and depth.

Build the museum one discovery at a time

  • All 15 prehistoric species now have distinct, scale-aware exhibit bays.
  • Skeletons visibly grow as individual bones are installed.
  • Storage clearly separates installed, ready, missing, and duplicate parts.
  • Your first useful copy is protected for the museum; duplicates remain available to sell or research.
  • Improved species selection, staged silhouettes, progress readouts, and assembly actions.
  • The first exhibit reward now makes the opening tool upgrade affordable.

Town, characters, and menus

  • Re-centred town destinations and aligned buildings with their plots.
  • Added nearby prompts with clear actions such as Enter, Talk, Trade, and Read.
  • Reduced dialogue, HUD, text panels, and pause-menu footprint so the world stays visible.
  • Improved NPC conversation layouts and controller focus.
  • Refined the opening objectives so early requests match the fossils and locations players can actually access.

Presentation and polish

  • Refreshed the player, tools, equipment, vehicles, buildings, fossils, museum exhibits, and biome presentation.
  • Improved movement and tool-animation consistency.
  • Reworked dig sites so excavation beds sit naturally within each biome.
  • Retuned music, sound effects, loading presentation, discovery feedback, and screen transitions.
  • Expanded save-integrity, progression, accessibility, UI, audio, and gameplay regression coverage.

Thank you

This update is built around your feedback about mining flow, museum readability, town navigation, animation, and oversized UI. Please keep sharing what feels great—and where the next expedition still needs work.
