After years of development, testing, rebuilding, and working toward the game we originally set out to create, we’re ready to take the next major step: Glory to the Heroes will enter Steam Early Access on October 9, 2026.
To mark the announcement, we’ve released our official Early Access Launch Trailer, offering a first look at the current state of the game and what awaits you at launch.
Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing a much closer look at Glory to the Heroes as it enters Early Access - the new Roadmap with plans for Early Access, game modes, systems, and features, the content available at launch, and what you can expect from the project going forward to prepare you for the launch and make your infiltration into the game as smooth as possible. We’ll also be covering the practical details surrounding the release, including pricing and other launch information. There is a lot we want to show and explain properly, rather than trying to fit everything into a single announcement, so consider this the beginning of a series of updates leading into October 9. As a starting point, we would like to answer the main questions about the game we see so far from the newcomers or players who did not make it into the last playtests: "Is that a Squad/Arma like?" "Is that an extraction?" - short answer: yes and no. Essentially, GTTH is the best of both. We've been experimenting with different approaches and iterations over the years and finally settled on what appeared to be most engaging and immersive for a next-generation mil-sim experience: generally speaking, you have your good-old RAAS / AAS that offers mil-sim squad-based gameplay, where teams of players contest objectives on the battlefield, blended with the features you mostly see in games of the extraction genre - persistent characters, deep survival elements, personal stash and progression, gear & "loot", overwhelming weapon customization, "vendors" & their assignments, and, of course, uncompromising hardcore infantry combat. All of that packed together into the immersive sandbox that recreates events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Why Early Access - and why now?
Glory to the Heroes has always been built as a systems-driven multiplayer experience, and Early Access is the point where we believe developing it together with a larger active community becomes far more valuable than continuing behind closed doors.
The game launching on October 9 already has a substantial, playable foundation built around its PvPvE and PvE experiences that make up the core of GTTH. At the same time, Early Access gives us the room to continue expanding those systems, adding content and refining the experience as players begin interacting with them.
Our recent public playtests were an important confirmation of that approach.
Across these tests, we were able to observe the game under real multiplayer conditions, identify problems quickly, deploy fixes and improvements, and continue introducing new and revised content between tests - and we are committed to continuing with that approach throughout Early Access. More importantly, the response from players to the core gameplay, mechanics, and overall experience was extremely encouraging, and the amount of useful feedback we received reinforced our decision to move into Early Access now to continue building and expanding GTTH. Early Access therefore isn't the end of development or a "final release" by any means. It is the point where development becomes considerably more open, iterative, and closely connected to the people actually playing the game, rather than waiting until every part of our longer-term vision is complete. Also, to pre-empt confusion with the Steam page display date, as it displays 2026 instead of October 9 -we have exceeded the set launch date twice, and in that regard, according to Steam rules, we are no longer eligible to set the exact public-facing release date a third time. However, that does not impact our commitment to the October 9 launch or the launch itself. - Deaf Tone Games
