Terracrypt Feature Preview #2: Your Favorite Mounts, Just One Key Away

Hello, Explorers!

Today, we’re unveiling another quality-of-life upgrade coming with Terracrypt: Quick-Switch Companion Creatures.

Out in the wild, every second counts. Perhaps you have just landed when an enemy suddenly closes in—but your combat mount is still buried somewhere in your inventory. Or perhaps you are deep inside a mine when you realize that you need your best gathering partner.

Until now, switching creatures meant opening your inventory, searching for the right one, and summoning it manually. During a tense Boss battle or a dangerous expedition into unexplored territory, those precious seconds could mean missing the perfect opportunity.

With the new Companion Creature system, your most trusted mounts will always be close at hand.

Bind Your Go-To Creatures

After the update, you will be able to assign one to three of your most frequently used rideable creatures to the new Companion Creature slots.

Once assigned, they will become your Companion Creatures, ready to answer your call at a moment’s notice.

Please note: Only rideable creatures can be placed in these slots.

Summon Instantly, Switch Seamlessly

Simply press the corresponding hotkey to summon the Companion Creature you need.

Already have a Companion in the field? No problem. When the new Companion appears, your current one will be recalled automatically—letting you switch creatures without digging through your inventory or interrupting the flow of your adventure.

Switch While Mounted

You can even switch directly to another Companion Creature while already riding one.

Whether you are charging into battle, gathering resources, or adapting to an unexpected danger, changing mounts will now feel faster and smoother than ever.

Explorer’s Notes

● Creatures that can be ridden without a saddle may be summoned immediately. If a creature requires a saddle, you must first equip one in the saddle slot of its Companion Creature slot. Otherwise, a “Missing Saddle” message will appear.

● Summoning and recalling Companion Creatures must still meet all normal requirements, including cooldown restrictions and sufficient space for the creature to appear.

● Pixblocks placed in Companion Creature slots will not be dropped when you die, much like items stored in your hotbar and equipment slots. If an active Companion is recalled when you die, its saddle and inventory contents will be transferred to your cache.

● When you use a hotkey to switch directly from one Companion Creature to another, all items carried by the recalled creature will automatically be transferred to the newly summoned creature. If you simply recall a Companion without replacing it, those items will instead be transferred to your character’s inventory.

That concludes this edition of our feature preview. We hope this improvement makes every expedition more responsive, flexible, and enjoyable.
