City Game Studio: Your Game Dev Adventure Begins · published
Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well! This week, or rather these past few weeks, I've been working hard. I focused on the content of v1.29, namely franchises. So let me tell you all about it right away!
Lately, I've been designing the franchise panel. I had to completely deconstruct the concept of a franchise to understand why they're worth adding, and above all to figure out which information really matters. And most of all, I didn't want to create a new in-game panel. For starters, I'd find it redundant to have one panel for franchises and another one for the game history.

So this is what I came up with. I'm pretty happy with it. There's still one important piece of information missing from this mock-up: the number of games in a franchise. Other than that, I think it's pretty much complete.

Anyway, my point is that it makes for a rather busy panel without much white space. So I took the time to rework the whole panel, so that the history matches the rest of the design.

Believe it or not, this code hadn't been touched in years, so naturally I was able to optimize it a bit and take the opportunity to remove unused code, making the game a little lighter.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
Before implementing the franchise panel visually, I need to gather all the franchise-related data. Right now, it's scattered all over the data models. So the next step is to create a new model called FranchiseModel (I'm super original and really good at naming things). And since I like you all, I'll also work on making old saves compatible with this new version.
So that's what I'll be working on next week. Data you won't see, but that will let the game display franchises efficiently.
That's it for me, thanks for reading. See you next week for more.
In the meantime, take care
