tl;dr: new permanent unlock system, fallen agent system, enemies drop unique items, and more...

Summary:

The permanent upgrade system was supposed to be replaced with the Augements system, but I realized we needed something more for permanent unlocks. Now you'll be able to find, on planet Terminus, assets left behind by the previous Aetherion research teams, which will increase some stats permanently. It never made sense for mutant bugs to drop coins, so now (most) enemies drop unique items, which can be sold, consumed, or traded (plus a small fee) for something useful. Finally, and perhaps the most anticipated (by me) addition is the Fallen Agent system (the game's title is half of this thing's name), where if you can find the body of the previous unlucky one who died planet-side, you can loot their corpse. Now can I call this a souls-like?

Changes:

  • Some chests now have items that give permanent stat increases. This system was created in two days, so it's not finished, and will be updated in the next update
  • Enemies now drop unique items, with long descriptions that no one will read. Can be sold, consumed, or traded for useful stuff.
  • When returning to the planet on another mission, you may find the body from your last run (as long as it didn't explode or fall down a pit) and loot it
  • Some UI additions and improvements, such as a new main menu and some new settings added to the pause menu... also the main menu finally has a settings page as well
  • Enemies killed, crates broken, and some other stuff is now saved per-run, so you can't kill enemies, exit the game, then come back and farm (sorry)
  • Some bug fixes, including one that is in a way a buff for Thrax

Known Issues:

  • Rigsmith has a ton of issues including her turret doesn't deploy. She will not be available in the official demo so I've been neglecting her, but I'll spend some time working on her soon.
  • Some UI still needs improving, like adding scrolling on the keymaps page(s), and some button icons are incorrectly displayed
  • Enemy AI still needs improving in some areas (mostly Raiders)

What's Next:

  • Augments system, it's finally coming next update
  • More permanent upgrades, such as increasing max injector count and improving abilities
  • Update to the ship
  • Cora is a bout to get a lot more talkative
  • Possibly a new enemy

Thanks, enjoy.
I look forward to everyone's feedback!

This includes a new status effect used by the Field Scientist, Deadlock, which only affects robots, and armor penetration for the Leadwarden. Also lots of bug fixes and slight improvements to UI. The heavy gunner has been reworked and renamed, now known as the Leadwarden, has a new passive (technically two), a…Game update22 May 2026Beta update #5tl;dr: big update to save system, armor system rewritten, field scientist changed, minor ship improvement, bug fixes all around Summary: One of my players told me a few weeks ago that they were farming Thrax by killing him over and over, getting the upgrade points, then abandoning the run so they could go purchase upgrades... Well, that's not happening anymore, not on my watch (sorry). The save…
