HARBINGER - Legacy Edition · published
Hey everybody!
Sorry for the radio silence on progress updates recently.
I've been swamped with a multitude of personal matters, as well as really finishing and polishing this update. (Gore & Gunplay) Unfortunately..or fortunately, as you create in an engine, you learn more about its capabilities and proper level design and game design standards that should be adhered to when creating.
This leads me to the biggest piece of news ;
several levels are having entirely new reworks!
M1, M2, M3, and M6 in the Main Story are the worst contenders when it comes to "Old & Crap"
And given the new Ai systems for the enemies, I'd say they're all due for a re-design for flow and memory optimizations. The old maps were cluttered, huge, and didn't have a flow that really stuck, personally.
Now you may be asking ; "What does this mean?"
Unfortunately....it means this update will probably take even longer to finish up.
I don't want to half-ass this and under-deliver..So, all I ask is for your continued patience!
Now, fortunately... It means that these new maps will have much better performance, and adhere to better standards than before.
This also lets them be thematically improved and have even more atmosphere than previously possible. I learn a lot every day I work on HARBINGER, and I honestly want to go back and improve what I can so that it can shine in every possible way.
First I'd like to start off with an enemy ai comparison video!
While I showed them in the video,
Here's some images comparing the original M1 & M2 and their respective remakes :
(I forgot to disable the visuals for the M2 Before images....Currently, pre-1.6.1, the game does not have Post-Processing.) I had to hold myself back from showing eevverything, I do want some things to be surprises, after all..
But that's all for now! If anything else props up during the update progress, I'll be sure to post a progress update!
Until we see each other again.
