Major Trading Journal Review Update

This update brings a major overhaul to the Trading Journal Review interface.

Previously, trading journals were displayed in a table. While this made it easy to see a large amount of information at once, the actual review experience was not ideal. Reviewing trades often required constantly switching between trade details, screenshots, and journal notes.

So, we redesigned the entire review interface from the ground up.

Our goal is to make it much easier and more efficient to review trades, analyze journal entries, and discover patterns in your trading.

The new review interface is divided into three main areas:

Left Panel: Trade List

The left side displays all trades matching your current filters, allowing you to quickly browse and switch between them.

We have also spent quite a bit of time refining the scrolling experience.

You can now use the mouse wheel anywhere within the review interface to move through the trade list.

There is no need to move your cursor over the left panel first.

This makes reviewing large numbers of trades much smoother and faster.

Center Panel: Trade Screenshots

The center panel is dedicated to your entry and exit screenshots.

You can quickly switch between Entry and Exit screenshots using the buttons in the upper-right corner.

If you want to focus more closely on the chart, you can also collapse the right-side panel to give the screenshot area more space.

Right Panel: Tools

The right side currently contains four different views that you can switch between depending on what you want to analyze.

Journal

Displays the complete journal for the currently selected trade in a much more readable format.

Compared with the previous table-based layout, trade notes and review information are now much easier to read and understand.

Filters

You can add multiple filtering conditions to narrow down the trades shown in the review interface.

Actions

For the currently selected trade, you can:

  • Delete the journal entry

  • Edit the journal entry

  • View the trade

  • Enter Practice Mode

You can also export all trades matching the current filters in one operation.

New Feature: Trade Grouping

One of the biggest additions in this update is a new review tool: Grouping.

Grouping allows you to further categorize the trades that match your current filters and compare different groups using statistics such as:

  • Profit Factor

  • Total P&L

  • Other performance metrics

Groups can also be sorted by these metrics.

You can open any group and directly inspect the trades inside it, making it much easier to answer questions such as:

  • Which types of trades perform best?

  • Which types of trades are consistently hurting my results?

There are currently two grouping methods available.

1. Group by Field

You can select a trade field and automatically group trades based on its values.

Option-Based Fields

For fields with predefined options, each option automatically becomes its own group.

Trades with an empty value will also be placed into a separate group.

For example, you can group trades by Direction and directly compare:

Long vs. Short

across metrics such as:

  • Win Rate

  • Profit Factor

  • Total P&L

This makes it much easier to see whether one side of your trading performs significantly better than the other.

Numeric Fields

For numeric fields, you can manually add multiple breakpoints to divide the full range into different intervals.

For example, if you add:

0

as a breakpoint for the P&L field, trades can immediately be divided into:

  • Profitable Trades

  • Losing Trades

You can then compare the two groups and analyze what separates your winners from your losers.

2. Setup Clustering

In addition to grouping trades using existing journal fields, this update introduces a more experimental analysis method:

Setup Clustering

The system collects candlestick data from the period before each trade entry and analyzes the similarity between different trade setups using a clustering algorithm.

The current implementation uses K-Means clustering.

After clustering is complete, trades with similar pre-entry setups are automatically placed into the same group.

This gives you another way to look at your trading history and explore questions such as:

  • Which types of setups are more likely to be profitable?

  • Which setups frequently lead to losses?

  • Are there hidden strengths or weaknesses in your trading system that you have not noticed yet?

We hope this feature can help uncover patterns in large amounts of historical trading data that would otherwise be difficult to notice manually.

Ultimately, the goal is to help you better understand and refine your trading strategy.

Making Trading Journals More Useful

The core goal of this update is simple:

Make recording trades genuinely useful for reviewing trades.

A trading journal should not simply store information.

It should help you:

  • Identify problems faster

  • Test and validate ideas

  • Discover recurring patterns

  • Better understand your own trading behavior

We hope the redesigned Trading Journal Review interface makes the entire review process more intuitive, efficient, and useful.

Give the new interface a try, and as always, we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Thank you for your continued support!
