GRIDLOCK’s arsenal has grown from 8 weapons to 34. Weapons can now evolve, five new enemies have joined the traffic, and runs feature new events, mutators, districts, and a completely reworked difficulty curve.
Turn the city itself into a weapon with additions including the Tesla Coil, Jumper Cables, Disco Ball, Subwoofer, Train Horn, Ghost Train, T-Shirt Cannon, Oil Slick, Tar Pit, Hubcap Hurler, Speed Camera, The Audit, Yard Sale, Manhole Mania, Loose Cargo, and more.
Each weapon is built around a distinct role:
Disco Ball sweeps rotating beams through the surrounding horde.
Jump Start electrifies enemies that touch your car.
Subwoofer deals continuous bass damage in a cone behind you.
Projectiles also use proper 3D models now, replacing the old placeholder shapes.
Max out certain weapons during a run to evolve them into much stronger forms:
Gatling Grille
Buzzsaws
Bumper Barrage
Toxic Burnout
Total Rave
Bass Drop
Defibrillator
Merch Storm
The streets have become more crowded—and much stranger:
Crosstown Bus
Haunted Hearse
Moped Gang
Road Pirate
Scooter Van
Each one changes how you move through the city and which threats you need to deal with first.
Random events can now interrupt a run:
Rush Hour Surge
Elite Convoy
Mortar Barrage
Hold the Intersection
Gremlin Infestation
The same event will never appear twice in a row.
There are also 10 run mutators, including GLASS CANNON, MOPED MADNESS, and RUSH HOUR FOREVER. Mutators change the rules of an entire run and push different weapons, upgrades, and driving styles.
Enemy spawns now depend on the city district you are driving through. Your route matters: moving into another part of the city can expose you to a completely different mix of traffic.
You’ll also find supply beacons around the map. Smash through one to trigger a full-power attack or instantly repair your hull.
Runs now begin with lighter traffic before building toward a much larger peak horde. The growing pressure should be clearer, and reaching the late game should feel properly dangerous.
Camping has also been addressed. Stay parked for too long and the city will begin applying escalating pressure. Ignore the warning long enough and artillery will force you back onto the road.
Keep moving.
The update also includes:
A new level-up celebration when selecting an upgrade
Improved HUD presentation
Reworked hit effects
Garage presentation improvements
This is GRIDLOCK’s largest content update so far, with more weapons to build around, more threats to react to, and far more variation between runs.
