Plasma Sky returns!

Hi all!

I'm so stoked to revive and upgrade Plasma Sky so that more people can play it. I finished the first version of the game in 2013 just after finishing work on Torchlight 2 at Runic. I made a lot of it while on my bus commute! Even after spending a billion hours (estimate) testing and tuning the game, I still really enjoy playing it and get sucked in longer than intended, so it must be pretty good.

I'm especially excited about the new challenge mode that arranges levels every week for a short and difficult high score battle. It's based on a seed, so the enemies, drops, and even drop trajectories are the same every time you play, and the same for everyone playing that week. Every week I play, die a bunch, learn the new patterns, figure out new ways to optimize, and eventually post a respectable score. It's really fun, more than I expected! The full version of that will be in the demo so give it a try.

Since the original I've also upgraded art, UI, added TATE and other rotation modes, and generally upgraded everything you'd expect. The glowy margins and score tracer are especially cool.

A free demo is coming this fall

Wishlist so you don't miss it, I'll appreciate the support!

And come say hi: @spikepitgames.com on Bluesky

Community24 Aug 2026Plasma Sky on Steam DeckThe official review and badge may take a while to show up, but I love playing games on Steam Deck so I've made sure Plasma Sky runs great. Steam Deck related features: · Full controller support · Readable text sizes · No settings tweaks needed, runs at 1300 FPS uncapped (Don't play uncapped, enjoy the long battery life at 60!) · Dedicated STEAM DECK rotation mode for those who like portable TAT…
