Hello, survivors! We've got a themed release around merchants, trading, and items this week; but that doesn't mean it isn't also packed full of other goodies! The latest version is now live for Windows, Mac, and Steam Deck!

Lets start with the merchant changes and then get into the rest!

Merchant Changes:

  • Rather than spawning random merchants in every level, each level now has its own pool of merchants that can spawn there

  • Added merchants to the minimap

  • All existing merchants have had their inventories extended and will carry more, varied items

  • Uncommon, rare, and epic items from merchants now include affixes on the items they sell

  • Added a "Quick Sell" feature to merchant windows that auto-sells all your Common items (with a preview/confirmation of what will sell)

  • Some merchants will now hang out in the area for a while instead of strictly only passing through

  • The "Press [E] to trade" tooltip above merchants now also includes their name

  • Merchants now have a very rare chance to be carrying any random Crucible mold you haven't found yet

  • Redesigned the merchant window

New Merchants:

  • The Intrepid Explorer sells tickets to other levels, even those you haven't unlocked! Buy one and he'll guide you there immediately for the rest of your run

  • The Collector holds onto the items you sell him, and may stiill have them still for sale if you run into him in other runs

  • The Cursed Wanderer sells very powerful weapons.. that may be cursed

  • The Apothecary sells consumable items (health potions, adrenaline potions, etc) which are immediately used on purchase

  • The Graverobber sells items that look suspiciously identical to the items you've died with in previous runs

  • The Genie sells a random assortment of items you've ever wished for

  • Squirt will sell you some really cool, rare items -- just trust him and pay before you see them

  • Grove Tender is roaming the Forest and sells all kinds of nature items

  • The Elementalist sells a variety of elemental-bonus tiaras

  • The Silky Stylist is trapped in the Brood Den, but will sell you items at a discount if you save her!

  • The Traveling Salesman sells truly random items every time you encounter him

There are also 5 new merchants who trade in Essence rather than Gold:

  • The Hexweaver sells magical armour, weapons, and curiosities

  • The Reliquary Keeper sells sacred armour and holy relics

  • The Wyrm-Charm Peddler strings teeth, talons, and lucky coins into beast-charms

  • Ash-Tongue sells things that have burned.. ashes, embers, and cursed shards

  • The Moonwell Adept trades in frostbound and arcane curios

...And also added 21 other merchants that you'll just have to find to meet!

New Characters:

  • Anna, a traveling merchant who throws coins at nearby enemies (unlock: collect 25 gold)

  • Finch, a quick thief with a dagger and an eye for finding gold (unlock: survive 10 minutes in Trading Post)

  • Midas, a greedy god that can't help but find overwhelming amounts of gold (unlock: collect 100 gold)

  • Mamba, a snake who literally can't stop running from what lies behind (unlock: defeat 100 Sand Cobras)

  • Frog, an honorable amphibian sworn to protect the forest (unlock: survive 10 minutes in Forest)

  • Grog, he's a little drunk and doesn't expect to survive -- completely unrelated (unlock: destroy 50 Feast Tables)

  • Oculus, a true agent of chaos that can automatically teleport away when hit (unlock: survive 30 minutes in Char Wasteland)

  • Kimbo, a dirt-lot duelist who only carries two weapons but makes every hit count double (unlock: defeat 1,000 Bandits)

  • Krieg, a battlefield scavenger who can carry up to three extra weapons (unlock: defeat 500,000 enemies)

New Interactable: The Bounty Board

  • You'll now find bounty boards while adventuring in any level.

  • Accepting a bounty will start spawning that enemy into your level, even if they wouldn't otherwise spawn there.

  • You can have one bounty active at a time.

  • Return to any Bounty Board after completing your task to collect your reward.

New Level: Trading Post

  • A small village full of merchants needs your help defending at night

  • Unlocked by surviving 30 minutes in any level

New Level: Black Market

  • A perpetual-night alley full of unsavory trades and company

  • Unlocked by surviving 10 minutes in Trading Post

New Level: Bandit Camp

  • You don't belong here.. and the bandits will make sure you know it

  • Includes a new Bandit Leader boss at minute 25

  • Unlocked by killing 1,000 Bandits in any level

Gameplay Changes:

  • You can now choose +3 gold as a reward when leveling up instead of a new weapon/upgrade

  • Added Treasure Goblin enemies which drop a handful of coins on death.. if you can catch them

  • Added many dozens more base items to find from enemy loot, merchants, bloody chests, etc

  • The Crystal Resonator now requires 1 gold per use

  • At the Jeweler's Bench, crafted rings are more likely to have elemental damage as an affix, and crafted amulets are more likely to have elemental resistance as an affix

  • Added a new "Armor Piercing" affix that can appear on your items that ignores some percentage of enemy armor when calculating damage

  • Items are now slightly smaller when dropped from enemies

  • Renamed the "Ice" element on items (ice damage, ice resistance, etc) to "Water"

Enemy Changes:

  • Some enemies now have Armor, which will reduce the damage you deal to them

  • Some enemies now have armor-piercing attacks that ignore some percentage of your armor

    • Ghosts, Calcified Miners, Razorwings, and Zealous Mercenaries ignore 10% of your armor

    • The Butcher ignores 50% of your armor

    • Bees ignore 100% of your armor

  • Enemy sprites have a more consistent pixel density and color tone

Codex Changes:

  • Enemies now list which levels they can spawn in

  • Weapons now list which characters start with them

Settings Changes:

  • You can now rebind your input buttons in the Settings menu

  • Added a Vsync toggle in the Display tab

  • Added control rebinding in the Controls tab

  • Added a Reduce Motion toggle in the Accessibility tab

  • Redesigned the settings page

Bugfixes:

  • It's no longer possible to have two of the same upgrade on the same weapon offered while leveling up; you'll always have three unique choices

  • Fixed a bug where the next item in your inventory's tooltip didn't automatically show after selling an item

  • Fixed a bug that prevented newly-unlocked levels from being shown on the death screen next to your other unlocked content

  • Fixed a bug where some kinds of weapons stopped firing when there were no enemies nearby to fire at
