TF2 Classified Authoring Tools

We're happy to announce that we now have a dedicated Authoring Tools application on Steam. If you're a mapper or modder, this is for you.

The application includes:

  • Launchers for Hammer++, HLMV++, and Faceposer++, set up for TF2 Classified

    • The utilities are automatically installed and updated by the Authoring Tools application

  • An option to launch TF2 Classified in Tools Mode

  • Links to documentation

  • VMFs including prop zoos, style guides, and a game mode prefab library

  • VScript examples for custom weapon and game mode creation

The game mode prefab VMF gives templates for all of TF2 Classified's exclusive game modes and should cut down on the amount of logic work required to create maps for them. The prop zoo VMFs lay out props for a couple of common categories and the style guides give examples for how we construct our maps' visuals.

The VScript examples include the attributes used by weapons from our latest April Fools event, alongside scripts for our Territorial Domination game mode. These should be helpful as a reference for anyone wanting to make custom weapons and game modes outside of what's possible using existing weapon conditions and map logic.

You can download the Authoring Tools app by clicking the link below. Otherwise, you can find the app by opening the filter drop-down at the top of your Steam library and selecting "Tools".

Install Team Fortress 2 Classified Authoring Tools

We're interested in suggestions for anything else that might be useful to include. Those could include expansions on what we're already shipping, such as new example VMFs, or other types of modding utilities that might help.

We hope all of this makes it easier for both new and experienced creators to make custom TF2 Classified content. We look forward to seeing what you all continue to create!
