Since June 25, we've been running a beta test for Chat Items. Thanks to all of your feedback, we're happy to officially release the feature!
Before the beta test, we invited the community to share their thoughts in gogh News #15 on May 20. We received many positive comments, concerns, and objections.
We carefully reviewed the concerns, especially those related to user preferences and disruptive behavior. During the beta test, we implemented a variety of measures focused on two key goals: giving users the freedom to choose how they interact, and preventing abuse.
Filter rooms before joining
Sticker communication
Posting restrictions based on time spent in the room
NG word filter
Spam prevention
Kick and block directly from the chat window
Throughout the beta test, we evaluated how these measures performed in practice. While no solution can ever be perfect, we believe we've achieved a solid balance between user choice and protection against disruptive behavior.
Based on your feedback during the beta, we've also added the following features:
Disabled while Focus Mode is active
Retrieve up to 20 chat messages before entering a room
Pinned messages (1 per room owner)
CSV export for chat logs
One social media post from a user saying, "I tried it and had fun talking with overseas users for the first time," also encouraged us to move forward with the official release.
Going forward, gogh will continue balancing innovation with thoughtful design as we strive to create a social workspace where everyone can focus together with peace of mind.
