Stella Nova - Major Patch 1!

It's been two weeks since the first demo released, and the first software patch for Stella Nova is live on Steam now!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4474070/Stella_Nova/

I've added a wide variety of quality-of-life updates, as well as critical fixes to the GUI of the Save/Load system. I've tried to take as much community feedback as possible into account for as smooth of a player experience as possible. If you have further suggestions, definitely ping here I will 100% be reading! Here's the full patch notes for the May 28th build of the Stella Nova Demo!Major Fixes

  1. Save Persistence

    1. UI Scaling, settings, and other graphics options now save automagically on exit.

  2. Save and Exit UI

    1. Alongside the issues that existed mentioned above, i decided to take the opportunity to clean up the UI a little bit.

  3. custom mouse cursor

    1. I was finding the mouse a bit difficult to find against the asteroid field in some cases. I resolved this by adding a new custom mouse cursor, as well as a lot of customization options to allow you to choose whatever cursor you'd like.

  4. internationalization UI

    1. The new internationalization UI also includes a translation terminal. I can't be more grateful for the help the community has given in translating much of the UI so far, but now there's an integrated terminal to send me an email for a translation suggestion directly within the game! If you'd like to contribute, it would be extremely helpful.

  5. Live Activity Menu

    1. I added a new panel to the colony management tab! there's now a live view of what all colonists are doing at any given time. It provides a live log of pretty much the entirety of the colony's activity & any notable events.

Tutorial and User Interface

  1. Redesign of Tutorial and General Updates

    1. I've been watching very closely and reading your feedback to the letter to provide as seamless a tutorial experience as possible. I've added some more information about how to search, how your character works, and miscellaneous bugfixes to make sure things trigger appropriately.

  2. Broken Ship Start

    1. I've provided some more information about the broken ship that you start with, as well as A LOT more starting resources in orbit to get you started.

  3. Wallow Button Fix

    1. The wallow button no longer crashes the game. I had done this intentionally initally (as I do not approve of wallowing) but my disapproval now kicks you back to the main menu instead.

 Construction and Station

  1. Docking Bay Placement

    1. Docking bays are no longer restricted on where they can be placed on the station! they must still be placed on a station's exterior wall to be usable, but they no longer suffer from being unable to be placed in corner spots, for example.

  2. demolish and cancel distinction

    1. There are now two different buttons for cancelling a build:

      1. DEMOLISH

        1. Demolish is used to assign demolition to an active structure.

        2. CANCEL

          1. Cancel is used to cancel active blueprints, as well as cancel active demolition orders before a builder has tended to them.

  3. material ejection warnings

    1. Players receive a warning before performing an action that would allow resources to be jettisoned into space.

  4. construction behavior updates

    1. Players no longer get stuck on walls while attempting to build an object. Misc. additional bugfixes to construction behavior to prevent sticky movement.

  5. On-Station Storage Selection

    1. On-station objects can now be selected much like asteroids or anything else in the main simulation GUI.

Physics and Simulation

  1. Station orbital stability

    1. Stations now remain stable due to an adapted spring constant force on the station tether (yellow bar). The idea is that originally, this was guided by a spring constant that was way too weak. I tuned the spring constant so that the station can never rapidly spiral inward as it's known to do at high timescales.

  2. Sleep transition fixes

    1. There were a series of bugs affecting transition to sleep behavior

  3. Hibernation Job Persistence

    1. Bug fixed where jobs would not remain persistent after a hibernation and interplanetary flight.

  4. Drag-selection fixes on the main map screen

    1. There were some issues with Rect-selecting objects on the larger overall map screen, but they are no longer!

thanks for playing my game!
