The brand new Burning Sword: Death Sun demo is out now, and it's free for all to try.
First, thanks to everyone who has stayed with us. It's been a wild journey building this game, full of ups and downs and unexpected changes. But it was all worth it. We have a clear vision for the future of the game, and this brand new demo lights the way.
The hardcore classic Wuxia-film inspired combat stays central, but we also bring light roguelite elements to the gameplay. Lean into a different playstyle on each attempt, while the difficulty, the skill and the core combat that define the game stay exactly where they were.
The Hub. After the Prologue you land here. Skills get equipped and customized at the shrine. The shop is open from your first run, and its list grows after every boss, achievement and unlock. Spend the XP you earn in fights there.
The horse. Ready? Walk up to the horse and ride out to the stage.
Rewards. Fights along the way are randomized. Win one and you pick your reward.
Exploration and the Boss. Each biome opens up as you near the boss, with different paths to unlock and secrets to find. Some skills, like throwing your sword or riding it, get you into secret regions.
You are Zhang Yixian, leader of the Crimson Dust Demon Sect, back from the edge of death with one name left on his list: Gao Tianqi, master of the Death Sun poison and the most powerful man in the martial world. Everyone standing between them has to be cut down first.
The Burning Sword. Keep hitting to fill the Power Gauge, then ignite it. Every strike hits harder. The whole fight turns on it.
Qi. Powers your skills and your Qi blasts. Run dry and it starts eating your health.
Qi Drain. A forbidden technique that steals life and Qi from your enemies.
Rebound. Launch objects in the arena into your enemies to open them up.
Qinggong. Run up walls and float through the air to reach places ordinary people can't.
Bosses who show no mercy. Duels against the martial world's deadliest, from chain fighters to masked assassins.
The tide is rising in Bangkok this week. Parts of the city are flooding and a few of us pushed the final demo build with water in our homes, but we ain't stopping the schedule. Here are some photos from the team.
Play it, die a few times, and let us know what you think in the Steam discussions. And if you're enjoying it, a wishlist helps us more than you'd think.
See you in the martial world.
