Let’s start by taking a look at what’s new:

  • Computer — a fully functional device created specifically for the core gameplay.

  • NerTherOS — a fully functional operating system inside LonelyHere. Pretty much everything you’d expect to see in an operating system is here!

  • Main Base Improvements — the main base finally got some attention. I put up some wallpaper and installed a proper floor.

  • Player List in the Pause Menu — you can now see everyone currently in your world directly from the pause menu. (The ability to ban and kick players will be added in the future.)

  • Updated Tree-Chopping System — after the new trees were added, they could no longer be chopped down, which wasn’t exactly ideal. So I brought that functionality back with updated animations and new effects.

  • Improved Physics and Interaction System — since physics remains one of the most important parts of the gameplay, I spent some extra time improving and polishing this part of the game.

  • Chunk Manager 3.1 — now even more powerful and stable. The system continues to receive the changes and improvements it needs.

  • Enable Multiplayer from Inside Your World — playing alone isn’t nearly as fun, so now you can open your world to multiplayer without even leaving it!

  • And plenty of other small additions...

A lot of work happened behind the scenes too, so let’s take a look:

  • Steam servers now appear in the server list again.

  • Saving the world no longer freezes the game for a second.

  • Opening a multiplayer world no longer causes the game to use three times as much RAM.

  • The dedicated server should no longer randomly shut itself down.

  • Opening the pause menu no longer pauses the entire game while you’re on a server.

  • Moving between chunks no longer deletes objects.

  • Objects now try to stay synchronized between clients.

  • The server no longer uses network traffic while playing in single-player.

  • Tree remains no longer push the player around.

  • The data-saving system no longer tries to write several different data types at the same time.

  • The developer ate a cookie.

  • Tree shaders no longer duplicate themselves.

  • Player movement no longer breaks after crossing between chunks.

  • Optimized spawning large groups of identical static objects.

  • Fixed game crashes. (They still happen, just less often.)

  • Optimized RAM usage.

  • VRAM should no longer be consumed endlessly when objects are created and deleted.

  • Multiplayer has been optimized.

  • Fixed tree collisions.
