September has been heavily focused on balancing, performance, animations and general polishing across Veyora.
Combat & Balancing
One of the biggest focuses this month was balancing. Armor values, weapons, damage, enemy strength, NPCs, XP rewards and many other values have been adjusted.
I tested these changes both solo and in co-op to make progression and combat feel more balanced and consistent regardless of how you play.
Combat Animation Improvements
Several animations have also been updated and improved, especially around sword combat and general character movement.
New and adjusted combat animations help make attacks, transitions and movement feel smoother and more responsive. This is something I will continue improving over time, especially as more weapons and combat styles are added.
Audio System Rework
Another major improvement was the audio system.
Previously, dying could cause the player's audio system to not reset correctly. This could lead to the wrong ambient music continuing after respawning or music not changing correctly between areas.
This system has now been reworked and finally behaves much more reliably.
There are also new songs and area-specific music for locations such as Whisperwood, taverns and other regions, with much smoother transitions when moving through the world.
New Weapons
Several new weapons have been added, including:
New staffs
New swords
New daggers
Additional weapon variations (Pickforks etc.)
These have also been included in the latest balancing pass.
New Gatherable Plants
The gathering system has been expanded with new plants and bushes that can be harvested similarly to other resources in the world.
Some of these provide fruits or ingredients that can be used for alchemy, cooking and crafting.
World & Region Improvements
Many areas across Veyora received another polishing pass.
This includes:
Fixes for floating trees and misplaced objects
New environmental props
More details in towns, villages and wilderness areas
New buildings
More buildings that can now be entered
General collision and environment fixes
The goal is to make the world feel more alive and make exploration more rewarding.
Performance & FPS Improvements
A huge amount of work has also gone into performance.
Many systems, objects and areas have been optimized to improve FPS and make the game feel smoother overall. This includes improvements across the open world as well as general optimizations to reduce unnecessary performance costs.
There is still more work being done, especially for co-op performance, but the overall experience should already feel noticeably smoother.
For co-op, I still recommend that the player with the strongest PC hosts the session, as the host currently has to handle additional workload for the other players.
Co-op Improvements
Co-op continues to be an important part of development.
Several systems have been tested and adjusted specifically in multiplayer, and I am continuing to work on making hosted sessions smoother and more stable for everyone.
There is still optimization work ahead, but every update is getting us closer to a better co-op experience.
General Improvements
Alongside all of these larger changes, many smaller bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed throughout the game.
September has been less about introducing one huge new feature and more about improving the foundations of Veyora: better combat, smoother animations, improved performance, more balanced progression, stronger atmosphere and a more polished world overall.
Thank you as always for following the development of Veyora!
