Hi everyone,
I’m the solo developer behind Saraab, a psychological horror visual novel about a young woman confronting childhood wounds, family secrets, and a past that refuses to stay buried. The public v1 demo is now live on Steam and itch.io, and the full game script is about halfway written as I move toward a larger v2 demo for Steam Next Fest in October.
What's in the demo
The v1 demo covers the first chapter of the game. It drops you into the protagonist’s ordinary life right before it starts to crack open. You’ll meet her family, sense the tension that comes from old resentments and unspoken expectations, and start seeing the first hints that something is very wrong.
Saraab leans into quiet dread, emotional discomfort, and that feeling of being the “wrong” child in your own family. The demo also introduces the first supernatural threads: strange children and entities that seem far too interested in the living.
Horror Style:
Saraab’s horror is deliberately moderate: there’s a sleep paralysis scene, a few jumpy moments, but there is no gore or jumpscares.
Healing the past , changing the future
The core mechanic of Saraab is its focus on healing. As the protagonist revisits old wounds and family secrets, your choices about whether to face them or escape into comforting illusions will literally alter her future and unlock powers she never knew she had.
Instead of treating trauma as background decoration, the game is built around the idea that emotional recovery is what shapes both the story’s outcome and the kind of person she becomes. This will be more apparent in the full game.
How you can help
If Saraab sounds like something you’d connect with, the best way to support it right now is:
Play the demo on itch or Steam
Leave a short review or comment so I know what resonated
Add the game to your wishlist on Steam so you’ll see when new builds go up
Thank you for reading and for giving this strange, personal little horror VN a chance. I’m excited (and scared, in a good way) to show you more.
Bugs
If you encounter anything or just want to tell me more about your thoughts on the game, You can leave a comment on itch, post in the Steam Community hub, or fill the form on main title screen.
I’m keeping a running list of issues and reactions as I polish the full game, and hearing your feedback really helps shape where Saraab goes next.
