A new patch is now live! Another big one! I have redesigned the UI with custom models and elements, added a first-person view and you can now actually play as any hero you want!
Please let me know what you think over on the Discord server.
New:
Hero View: Click the eye on a hero's card (or press F) to see the dungeon through their eyes, in first person. The walls grow tall and a ceiling closes in, so it finally feels like you're down there with them. Set its Field of View under Settings > Gameplay.
Take Over: While you look through a hero's eyes, press C to play them yourself. Walk with WASD, aim anywhere with the mouse (up and down too), attack with the left button and cast with 1 to 3, in a fight or out of one, while the rest of the party fights alongside you and follows you between rooms. Lit-up signs on both sides of the door show the way on, until they show the way to the boss. Right click makes the hero autonomous again, F takes you straight back to the overview, Tab hops to the next one, and every control can be changed under Settings > Controls.
Take Over Achievements and Trials: Nine new achievements and three trials for the hands-on crowd, with rewards that only kick in while you steer a hero, plus a gold crosshair and rainbow sign lights to show off. Purely optional, so idle players miss nothing.
Ragdoll Corpses: While you play a hero, the dead go flying when you hit them, weapons, hats and all. Out of a fight your skills join the fun: lightning bounces from body to body and meteors rain on the whole room. Rather they rest in peace? Turn it off under Settings > Gameplay.
Skip the Rest: In a hurry to get back in after a long break? A few seconds into working out your time away, you can skip the rest and take gold for it at the pace your party was earning.
Improved:
Arrows and spells are real now. They fly until they hit someone or a wall, so a monster's arrow can thunk into your tank instead of your healer, and nothing shoots through walls anymore.
Magic now glows on its surroundings. Spells light up the floor and walls as they fly, and casts, lightning and meteors flash a little light where they go off, so a bolt sent down a dark corridor lights the way.
The whole interface has a new look: warm panels framed in bronze and gold, with buttons like little cast nameplates that press in when you click them. Some windows even keep a small shelf of their own on the side.
Elite and boss rooms now keep the corner by the door free of statues, so your party walks in with a clear view of the fight.
Brutes roar properly now when they make their entrance. You'll hear them before you see them flex.
After clearing a room your party now turns toward the way out, instead of the front line doing a little U-turn through everyone first.
Coming back after a break is a lot quicker now. Working out what your party got up to while you were away takes far less time, most of all when they spent the night bumping into a dungeon that was still too tough for them.
Changed:
The way into a dungeon is now a portal of its own. It fades out behind your party as you step through, instead of a staircase leading nowhere.
Fixed:
Walking into a new room no longer makes the game hitch for a moment. Its monsters are simply there, waiting for you.
Quick fighters no longer skip a swing now and then. Every hit you see has its swing behind it, even on the move.
Thanks for playing, and keep the feedback coming in the Discord server.
