This is one of the biggest updates we’ve made to MAINTAINER so far. We’ve added new Operators, a new skill system, progression, new events, new movement mechanics, new Traitor abilities, a new fear system, and a completely new way of experiencing the maps.
We’ve also fixed a lot of bugs and made several smaller improvements based on things we’ve noticed while playing and feedback from players.
We completely removed the flashlight and replaced it with Night Vision Goggles (NVG).
We wanted to make visibility and atmosphere a bigger part of the game instead of simply making the maps extremely dark.
The maps are now brighter, but they have much heavier fog. The NVG allows you to see through that fog, making it useful without making it mandatory.
The NVG also has a battery, so you’ll need to find batteries around the map to keep using it.
You can still play without NVG. We specifically designed the maps so that you can navigate and play normally without it. The NVG is there to give you another tool and to make visibility a decision during the match.
We’ve added a new Fear system.
Staying close to the Traitor for too long or being chased for an extended period will gradually increase your fear.
As your fear increases, you’ll start to experience different effects, including losing stamina much faster. This makes staying in a long chase increasingly difficult and adds another layer to encounters with the Traitor.
We’ve also added distance-based Traitor effects.
The closer the Traitor is to you, the more noticeable certain visual and audio effects become. Sometimes you may know something is wrong before you even see the Traitor.
The goal is to make the Traitor’s presence feel more threatening without simply relying on seeing him directly.

We’ve added a completely new progression system.

Thank you to everyone who has played the game, reported bugs, shared feedback, or simply spent some time playing with their friends. Every bit of feedback helps us figure out what needs to change and what we should work on next.
We’ll keep improving the game and adding more to it.
Thank you for playing MAINTAINER.
