Friends!
Warface became available worldwide not so long ago, but our project has a long history behind it, during which the game has changed, sometimes significantly. This has repeatedly influenced weapon and equipment balance, driven by our desire to keep the game engaging.
At the end of 2025, an article was published about how the meta is regularly updated (changes to weapon stats). We have translated this article into English so that you too are aware of this process.
Let's go back to the recent past. Until 2023, 3 new weapons were released each season. Every six months — new equipment that would "reset" the player's inventory. Old weapons no longer dealt the same damage against new armor.
Along with the equipment, new weapons were introduced, available only for Kredits. They were always better than the previous ones in terms of stats and could pierce the new armor. This cycle repeated twice a year and caused dissatisfaction within the community.
After 2022, we decided to abandon this model and change our approach to monetization.
Current weapons can be obtained not only from boxes, but also from the Battle Pass shop (for 99 Kredits) and for free — from the PvE shop and in monthly events.
New equipment is no longer released.
We regularly buff older weapons that have been sitting in Inventory for years and suddenly become part of the meta.
Players now have several meta weapons for each class, which remain effective for a long time (not 3–6 months, as before). Each season, some old weapons also return to the meta.
Is this good for players and for the project?
For players in the short term — yes, it's good. But for the game's development as a whole — no. If one weapon remains the best for a whole year, it harms gameplay diversity. Players gradually lose interest in acquiring new weapons or upgrading old ones. Why change anything when there's a familiar and effective weapon?
That's why our game designers plan which weapons will be most relevant in upcoming seasons. To add something new and keep interest in the game, sometimes the old has to make way.
We understand that such changes may cause dissatisfaction. But without constant development and gameplay updates, the project cannot stay relevant. We want Warface to live and grow, and that is exactly why we continue working on balance.
Yes, and here's why:
After a nerf, the weapon usually does not fall out of the meta completely. It stops being the best in its class but remains competitive.
Over time, it will be buffed again, and it will become — if not the best for the class — then at least enter the top 3–5 great weapons.
This is a cyclical process: each season, some meta weapons will be nerfed, while less popular ones will be buffed. For example, the STK CMCR was once the best, then it was nerfed, but in the future it will become relevant again. This will be the case with almost all weapons released in recent years.
The example shows 2 cycles; in practice, there will be many, but for simplicity, it is depicted this way.
Unlike the previous "inventory reset," the meta is now adjusted manually. Sooner or later, your favorite weapon will become strong again for a while.
Our concept is a regular, planned meta rotation. We change the balance of existing weapons and bring previously nerfed models back into the meta. This allows you to try different weapon archetypes, gain new experiences, and not get stuck on one weapon.
We hope this article has helped you understand our approach to balance and the meta. Now you know:
why weapon stats are regularly changed;
why upgrading a weapon is an investment in the future;
that acquiring weapon mastery will soon become easier.
