Following the first PTS for the upcoming autumn season, you left a large number of comments, most of which concerned the upcoming changes to the weapon progression system. In this article, we will answer the most popular questions about progression.
Warface is a free-to-play game. All players can obtain content either for free or for Kredits. Naturally, the free option requires time spent in the game, while you can make a purchase for Kredits immediately. Each approach has its pros and cons, and players have traditionally had different opinions on this matter.
Some players preferred the old system, when new equipment was introduced twice a year, and weapons could only be obtained from Random Boxes without a guarantee, but did not require any additional progression. Others are more comfortable with the current model, where each class has five or more relevant weapons, and most of them can be obtained through in-game activities (events, Battle Pass, PvE Shop, Ranked Matches progression). At the same time, weapons need to be upgraded for comfortable gameplay, which in turn requires time.
At the moment, we are considering various ways to simplify weapon progression for those who obtain weapons from Random Boxes. For example, one of the options under consideration is a chance to receive a weapon at level 100 right away. Important: at the moment, these are only options for discussion and consideration within the team.
Upgrades cost a lot of WF$. There will be plenty of WF$ at first after the compensation, but then they will run out and the shortage will become an issue. Farming 100 Special Operations just to earn enough WF$ for one weapon is boring and takes too long.
The amount of WF$ received has been increased in all modes, and the amount of this currency received with an active Warface+ service has also been increased (it was +50% per match, and is now +200%). During the season, you will be able to obtain 6.3 million WF$, as well as an unlimited amount of WF$ simply by playing any mode, since unlike Parts, you will receive WF$ for every match. By playing actively and completing all the available content throughout the season, you will be able to fully upgrade 5 weapons, which is more than enough to play all classes. These calculations do not include the WF$ you will receive for every match, so in practice, the number of weapons that can be upgraded during the season will be even higher.
The image below shows a table comparing the increase in WF$ obtained from PvP matches. All data was provided by the analytics team based on the results of all matches played on the live server from August 5 to 25, as well as all matches played on PTS-1 and PTS-2.
Some weapons, especially sniper rifles, have their main upgrades at the very end, meaning you will have to struggle at first until you level the weapon up to level 100.
The final upgrades are certainly very important, but they are not ultimate. The first WF$ upgrade provides a sufficient bonus for sniper rifles to comfortably level them up to 100. We would also like to remind you that all weapons have received improved base stats and are now more powerful even without upgrades compared to their versions on the live server.
Our team is currently working on finding the optimal progression speed for leveling weapons up to level 100: on the one hand, there should be a reason to upgrade a weapon to the maximum rank, while on the other hand, the progression speed and time required should remain comfortable enough for players.
Unique mods were removed from weapons such as the SVCh-54, Taurus Raging Hunter, SIG Sauer P226, and others. Why can't we add a switch for them, like the KS-23, for example?
This decision was made by the game design team and project management. The firing mode switch will remain available only for new weapons, as this mechanic is not planned for old weapons.
Why did the "weapon name" become very powerful, while my favorite "weapon name" was weakened? You promised not to nerf weapons, but you ended up nerfing them. How do you explain this?
To explain this, we prepared an article back in 2025 where we provided a detailed explanation of how and why the meta changes. We recommend checking it out here.
As the game develops, the developers periodically adjust weapon stats: unpopular and weak weapons are buffed, while overly powerful ones are adjusted towards being weaker to maintain overall balance. This is a natural and common process for any actively supported online game.
The upgrade system that replaced mods is different from the one we had before, but it is at least no more difficult to progress through. We removed Parts, improved the base stats of relevant weapons, reduced the number of upgrades, moved some stats to the weapons' base characteristics, increased the value of WF$, and made weapon progression simpler and more straightforward.
