Today, I released version 0.2.1 of The Bestest Knight's Demo, featuring mostly quality-of-life improvements and onboarding changes to make the experience smoother for new players.
You can read through the full changelog below:
New Content
Added a new treasure: "Ashes".
Urn enemies in the Mausoleum now drop Ashes instead of Holy Water.
Quality of Life and Onboarding Improvements
Added tooltips for enemy debuffs during combat.
The Iron Gate is now opened by default when starting a new game.
This should guide you directly to your first adventure.
Added access to the Options menu while the game is paused during an Adventure.
Elite Knights can now filter treasures by:
Rarity
Level
Type
More filtering options will be added in future updates.
The Pray action can now be discovered in the Mausoleum.
Existing save files that have already unlocked Pray are unaffected.
Ember and Heavy Strike are now unlocked by levelling up your attributes.
Existing save files that have already unlocked these actions are unaffected.
The Motivation perk is now unlocked by defeating The Stone instead of requiring every attribute to reach Level 1.
Existing save files remain unaffected.
The Stamina Potion Recipe now drops from a chest just before encountering The Stone.
Existing save files that have already unlocked the recipe are unaffected.
This should improve early game pacing and help new players gain access to stamina potions sooner.
Added a new perk: Resident.
Grants 20% increased movement speed in town.
Multitasking is now unlocked after identifying 30 treasures instead of 35.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Fixed several UI layering issues during Adventures that could cause interface elements to overlap.
Fixed multiple wording inconsistencies and corrected perk descriptions that did not accurately reflect their unlock requirements.
