Alchemy Survivors · published 1 May 2026, 18:01 UTC · build 23041407

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

The latest Alchemy Survivors update is now live for both Windows and Mac. There's so much cool stuff in this version I'll just jump right into it all!

New characters:

  • Robin, a hooded archer (unlocked by surviving 5 minutes in the Forest)

  • Crystal, an ice wizard from the north (unlocked by surviving 10 minutes in the Cemetery)

  • Titan, a very loud barbarian (unlocked by surviving 10 minutes as Ant)

  • Father, a priest who relies on his sturdy shield (unlocked by surviving 10 minutes as David)

  • R. Rick, an honest lumberjack with a chainsaw (unlocked by destroying 10,000 trees)

New Level: The Quarry

  • Explore a dense mining area full of ores, gems, and 14 new enemies

  • Face off against The Foreman at minute 10, and the Gemheart Colossus at minute 25

  • Unlocked by surviving 10 minutes in the Plains

New Level: Tristram

  • Survive an onslaught that includes 6 new enemies in this fiery, diabolical level... and a terrifying butcher at minute 15

  • Unlocked by surviving 15 minutes as Father

New Crafting Station: The Crucible

  • The Crucible allows you to create weapons from any material, similar to how the Anvil creates armor.

  • You'll need to find weapon molds for each weapon type before you can craft them. Once a mold is found in any playthrough, crafting that weapon type will unlock in all playthroughs.

  • There are 19 different weapon molds to find.

  • Spawn rates are significantly increased while working at the crucible; defend yourself and kill enough enemies nearby to complete the craft!

New Crafting Station: Furnace

  • Cook your items. What else would you expect a furnace to do?

  • Can also smelt ores into bars.

  • Found primarily in the Quarry.

New Crafting Station: Crystal Resonator

  • Socket a gem into an item to bind its essence.

  • Each gem in the game now has a specific stat or bonus it adds to items when bound to them.

  • Found primarily in the Quarry.

New Crafting Station: Grindstone

  • For a small gold fee, upgrade your weapon's stats (right now: either damage or cooldown)

  • Found primarily in the Quarry.

New Mechanic: Shrines

  • You'll now occasionally find themed shrines on your adventures.

  • Shrines provide a brief or instant effect when interacted with, and can only be used once.

  • For example, interacting with the new Shrine of Experience will give you just enough XP to immediately level up.

New weapons: In addition to new weapons on each of the new character, these weapons are now available to any character to select while leveling up.

  • Spear

  • Crossbow

  • Throwing Axe

  • Nova

Also added the following weapons that can drop from enemies, then unlock for future level ups after you've found one:

  • Torch

  • Pickaxe

  • Staff

  • Butcher's Cleaver

New enemies:

  • The Undryad awaits you in the Forest. Kill them quick, or they'll keep fleeing and summoning more mites to attack you!

  • Fallen, Fallen Shamans, Skeleton Archers, Cathedral Horrors, and Hiddens all await you in Tristram (with Skeleton Archers also finding their way to the Cemetery).

  • In the new Quarry level, watch out for Pebbles, Skitters, Balast, Dust Wraiths, Calcified Miners, Geobros and Geowyrms, Gravelers, Magma Ticks, Slate Shamblers, and Chroma Golems

Other new stuff:

  • The lighting engine has been completely rewritten. All levels should look nicer, light sources have dynamic lighting, and light radius is actually a usable stat now.

    • Sorry in advance about how nice and dark the Brood Den level looks now...

  • Some levels now include Fire in some places. Fire damages any enemy or player that comes into contact with it.

  • The time you take to kill each boss (from spawn to death) is now tracked and recorded in your codex, highlighting your best times per boss (and per character)

  • Added a link to the Discord to the title screen. Come say hi (and share your feedback/ideas)!

Crafting changes:

  • Crafted weapons will now calculate a rarity based on how powerful they are instead of always being Common

  • Weapons can now be crafted with more than 1 projectile/hitbox

  • Crafted armor now always includes an Armor stat (typically at least +1 Armor)

Level changes:

  • The Cemetery now unlocks after surviving 10 minutes in the Forest, rather than 10 minutes in the Plains.

  • Tombstones will now occasionally spawn the undead when destroyed.

  • The Forest now has Beehives... be careful!

Settings changes:

  • The game now auto-mutes when backgrounded. You can toggle this in settings.

  • You can toggle on/off damage numbers in settings.

  • You can now adjust base game brightness in settings.

Control changes:

  • Instead of manually navigating to and selecting filters in inventory lists, you can now cycle between them with the Q and E buttons on keyboard, or shoulder bumpers on controller

  • If you're playing on keyboard, you can now select/confirm in menus with Spacebar, not just Enter.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug where some stats on weapons weren't always applied to the player when the weapon was equipped

  • Fixed a bug where offscreen indicators for items you hadn't discovered yet would spoil what the item is by image instead of showing a chest image

  • Fixed a bug where you couldn't have multiple workstations of the same type working at once

  • Fixed a bunch of bugs related to navigating menus and UI with a controller

  • Fixed a bug where item tooltips could show for the wrong item when navigating quickly through the inventory list

  • Fixed a bug where offscreen indicators would stop showing for newly-dropped items if there were already hundreds of dropped items in the level
