We need to address a persistent defect in N.E.K.O.'s long-term memory system, and offer an explanation and apology to everyone affected.

🔍 What Happened
v0.7.3 marked the first experimental rollout of our new long-term memory system. However, after investigation, Dev Neko has confirmed: this system never worked completely as intended from the moment it launched. In other words, for approximately the past six weeks, the new memory features we believed to be running were never fully functioning.
It's worth noting that the original memory system was unaffected throughout and continued to function normally. What failed was the new persistence layer that was supposed to run alongside it — silently, without any visible errors.
⚠️ Affected Features
The Persona Evolution System did not function correctly
Time awareness such as "last seen X hours / X days ago" was inaccurate
Conversation content was not being consolidated into long-term factual memory
Long-term preferences such as "please don't bring up this topic again" were not being saved
🛠️ Current Status & Fix
The issue has been confirmed fixed in our internal builds and will ship with v0.8.1.
From that release onward, the new memory system will write data stably.
Unfortunately, memory data lost during the affected period cannot be retroactively recovered. We sincerely apologize for this.
