Why I use Proton and only support the Steam Deck

Hi everyone! Thank you all for the great support the past weeks while I was on holiday! The most asked questions on different sites are about why I am using Proton and why I, at the moment, am only making this game for the Steam Deck. I talk about it in this new mini devlog where I explain why I made these choices, but in short it is the following reply I wrote earlier:I am a Windows programmer by trade and with proton it just works on the Steam Deck. Why not use it if it works? Also with handheld gaming becoming more popular and also Windows aiming for it I might want to make it available for those in the future. Maintaining only one branch is in that sense way easier. Sure the game can already be played on other devices now, but I cannot guarantee how it will run on different hardware. That is why I only support the Steam Deck as a device to play Game With Balls on :)

My Discord server is now also updated for my game development projects and other things! Join the conversation there or in the discussion page on Steam. Thank you all and see you soon!

Game update10 Sep 2026Patch #4Hi! So what I thought would be an upgrade, making the game run at 90fps for OLED Steam Decks, in the latest update broke two levels in the challenges. I rolled back this "upgrade" and now everything should be back to normal and Game With Balls runs at the regular 60fps again for everyone. Thank you for reporting and if you notice anything let me know in the discussions! Cheers and have fun with…In-game event27 Aug 2026New level and Game With Balls now on Android!Hi everyone! Went full circle as Game With Balls was inspired by those old mobile games for your phone. Now you can play it on Android phones! I made a special level that you now play on your Steam Deck! You can get the Android version (but you shouldn't as you are already playing on your Steam Deck!) only on the Google Play Store . Thank you all for playing my weird little games. Cheers! GeertEsports4 Aug 2026New upcoming Steam Deck/Controller game: Fingerdrums!Hi everyone! Announcing a new little project I am working on: Fingerdrums! Using the Steam Controller or the Steam Deck touchpads, it will be a roughly 30-minute experience, taking you through different rhythms and a bit of an abstract story. No worries. For this one, I am also building in controller mapping and keyboard support if you are still waiting in the queue for the Steam Controller. Fi…
